Team HP, I keep coming to these post since I bought a WS Zbook 14 (June 2015). I would love to upgrade to Win 10. But, after reading these horror stories, I do not feel comfortable removing HP Client Security. HP need to work with Msoft to create a downloaded upgrade, that is plug-&-Play for us customers. Pls, posted this, once is done.

The Dec 2015 v8.3.17.2042 upgrade for HP Client Security Manager supports Win7,8 and 10 and should allow you to upgrade to Win10.

Back up your data to an external drive first, install the HP Client Security upgrade then retry the Win10 upgrade.  Do not try uninstalling HP Client Security.

ok so sorry for the confusion....i wanted to install windows 10 in the beginning of this mess... but decided to just install windows 8 wich is what came factory on the pc from my search of the product and model number....

also i can not recreate what i did earlier but my steps i took was

  1. put install disk in...asked to select language then showed partitions (system...284gb) and (reserved....14gb)
  2. selected format and got warning about important files..pressed ok... did that for each partition..
  3. selected delete for both partitions....
  4. now there is nothing left in the partition box and it gives an error that no drivers are loaded for storag?

>> This was somewhat OK, next steps was to create a new partition and proceed with the installation.

  1. exited install...  restarted pc.....pressed f9 for boot order and tried both the options boot from internal cd/dvd rom and boot from internal cd/dvd rom uefi

>> Under normal curcumstances, this would mean it is either not booting from the DVD or it the DVD is not working properly.

Try to disable Secure boot and enable legacy mode in the BIOS/UEFI:

>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226#AbT4   (ignore the card description)

You may also configure legacy mode boot options making the Internal CD/DVD  option the first one.

Restart and try to boot from the installation DVD again. If Internal CD/DVD is selected and if the installation DVD is OK, it should boot from it.

If this doesn't work, try to get this live media :  GParted - http://gparted.org/

http://gparted.org/livecd.php

Stable directory (.iso/.zip)
(for i686, i686-pae and amd64 architectures) - download version 0.25.0-3 (AMD 64 - ISO)

Burn the ISO on a blank DVD and let me know if it boots from it...

Have you considered option 1 mentioned above - to obtain original recovery media from HP ?

Hi,

Instead of F11, can you keep pressing F8 during start up ? You should see advanced boot options menu ?

Can you select Last Known Good Configuration (Advanced) ?

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ss/last-known-good-configuration-windows-7.htm

OR

Can you select and boot in Safe Mode ?

If you boot successfully in Last Known Good Congiguration or Safe Mode, you can try to open System Restore from there

Click Start (), click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click System Restore.

Let me know if this works for you. If this, there are other things that you can try.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.

This message is an indication of a hardware problem - your hard disk drive (HDD) got corrupted

This is not a Windows or software problem. Faulty HDD needs replacement.

If your computer is still under valid warranty, you need to check with and inform HP support team. Contact them, let them know and check for the replacement options

If your computer is NOT under warrantly, you will need to purchase new HDD on your own  OR  purchase new SSD.

SSDs are highly recommended >> http://ocz.com/consumer/ssd-guide/ssd-vs-hdd

Good vendors include Samsung, OCZ, Intel, etc...

If you are not sure how to replace it, you can check with friends, online or bring the computer to HP authorized service center where the faulty part can be replaced (not that if the machine is not under warrantly, this may cost you some small fee).

Re: Battery for Hp 250 G4

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.

The battery availability hours depend hightly on the way you use the computer.

There are activities and settings that make the computer use more power:

- usage of Wi-Fi

- higher brightness on the display

- playing games

- doing graphics works

- watching movies/videos on YouTube

Activities/settings which do not use so many resources and battery power lasts more include:

- internet via cable/ethernet

- lower brightness of the display

- writing a Word/Notepad document

- simple chatting on Facebook

So, depending on what you do, the battery usage may last different time and battery drains in different ways. The newer the battery, the better its performance.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP support forum.

The error appears because there is a start-up entry / registry key which points to a missing file with regars the Bluetooth software BT tray parser

Please, follow these instructions

1. Download Microsoft's Autoruns utility - link here. Please, save it to your Desktop

2. Right click the exe file and run it as Administrator

3. Wait some seconds until you see the log has been ready

4. Click on File -> Save
5. Save the new file to your Desktop - choose to save as LOG or TXT file type

6. Open the log file, select ALL of the content (e.g. mark all or choose "Select All" CTR+A) , copy and paste it here in your next reply.

Looking forward to your reply.

I'm fairly certain it is. But that shouldn't stop me from manually changing the date and time?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about needing Linux drivers for your notebook and wanted to help.

You would do better posting this in the Ubuntu Forums as folks there have a lot more experience with Linux drivers than on this forum:  Ubuntu Forums

Good Luck

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about problems doing a recovery using the disks and wanted to help.

I know this may sound wierd, but back in the Win7 days, I would have problems install or upgrading PCs if there was too much system memory.  So, what I would suggest is to put the old memory back and see if that makes a difference.  I know it should not, but it might.

Good Luck
