Product Name: HP ENVY dv7 Notebook PC
Product Number: C2H79UA#ABL
Computer is opterating normally, except has no capability to do backup or restore.
Any suggestion would be greatelyappriciated.
Hi,
That's wonderful news.
Some tips :
1) Back up your system regularly. Here are instructions about system image (built into Windows 7,8,10) >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03544793
This option backs-up everything on your machine - all the files, programs, data, partitions, the whole HDD stuff and can be used to restore if something failed
Best options for archiving would be external HDD and blank DVD for Windows recovery media
2) Ensure the PC is properly protected with regards to firewall, antivirus software, anti-malware software. Some free tools you can use : Sophos HitmanPro ( www.surfright.nl ) , Malwarebytes' AntiMalware - FREE version only ( www.malwarebytes.org ). Windows 8 and 10 have antivirus built-in (Windows Defender - ensure you update it regularly. If you are not happy with it, you can try Kaspersky, ESET or Norton.
I've been using my laptop for about 2 months now. upgraded it to win10 64bit, clean installation. the device is so slow ):

That is AMD based and not worth upgrade for that old of a laptop. What are you trying to do with it?
You said "it" wanted to update the drivers -- what is "it"? Windows 10? HP Support Assistant?
I can't provide help without answers.
Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
I read your post about possibly failed hard drive and needing restore media and wanted to help.
As to the first, please follow the directions in this link for testing your hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
If that confirms your drive has failed, then you need to replace it. Please report back if that is the case.
As to the second, what you need is something known as HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.
You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Once there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entty and click on Order Media for details.
Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:
If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!
Note that if HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/
Be sure to read through the material in the linked thread BEFORE you attempt the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939
Good Luck
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.

Unfortunately, majority of the time that cpu error code actually is pointing to a bad cpu socket on motherboard. At least that is what members here have surmised from all the posts about replacing cpu and still no joy.
You're very welcome.
You don't need the RST driver because your notebook drive controller is not in RAID mode.
I wouldn't be able to help you with the bluetooth issue.
The only suggestion I can offer regarding that would be to try the latest W7 bluetooth driver for the model wireless card your notebook has directly from Intel, because the two devices you listed are what you should be seeing.
The on screen display can be restored with this software. The volume and brightness indicators may look slightly different than what the W10 one looks like, but it is what it is.
This package provides the HP On-Screen Display Utility for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The HP On-Screen Display Utility enables the pop-up graphic displays that are shown on the screen when certain characteristics, such as volume or brightness, are changed.

If you still have the PCI Simple Communiciations Controller device uninstalled see if this version of the IMEI driver works for you...
