You are welcome, !

I have run out of ideas.  I suggest that you contact Microsoft's Customer Support to see what they have to say.  They are the experts on their product and know what the error message mean.

Hi @Old_geekster, thanks for your response.

So I kind of left it alone for the past few days as I was hoping I could find more information before I hurt my device more. I have not opened a laptop before but I might feel comfortable doing so if it comes down to it.

I ended up running a System Extensive Test twice which was stopped immediately both times with the following information:

Battery Check: Primary -Replace (40)

Primary: Logic State - Bad Cell (40), Charge State - Blown Fuse (42)

FAILURE ID: U4XPTW-911AAP-MFPW21-C0FL03

PRODUCT ID: 2FW61AV

Current Version: 7.5.1.0

Now to a layman, this obviously means that my battery is shot, but do I replace the whole battery? or just part of it?

This also makes me wonder if this is my only problem, would a dead battery still be the culprit for my computer crashing the way it has been even if the laptop is plugged in/charging the entire time? and is it normal for the PC to work fine in this dead battery state when I'm browsing the internet and listening to music, but crashes when playing a graphics heavy game?

Also, I'm no expert, but the PC hasn't felt more warm to the touch than what I'm used to, and there were at least 2 instances that the PC has crashed when it was cold, coming off a night of rest, only being on for a maximum of 5 minutes each time.

I'm not ruling out the heat problem, like I said I'm no expert, but I'm just trying to be aware of the other problems that may be occurring based on what I see. I also like to think that I keep my computer/computer space pretty clean and dust free and I see no debris when I shined a light into the air vents, but I do live with 2 long haired dogs.

ps, is it normal for a device to freeze on the extensive test screen as soon as it encounters a problem? happened both times.

pss, EVERYTHING should be up to date, I even uninstalled the games from the SSD I use and tried running the game off of the computers storage, same problems occurred.

You are welcome, !

When diagnosing a situation, I always begin with the easily solutions.  In your situation it was a possible heat problem.  Not always true, however.

If the battery is failing it could definitely cause the crashing that you are experiencing.  When the computer is not getting enough power it will simply crash.  You would have to replace the entire battery.

If you haven't done so, you can plug the laptop into a outlet to see if that makes a difference.  This way it would be getting plenty of power.

, I don't know if it is normal for the test to quit the minute it gets a negative test.  However, since it is a battery problem this wouldn't be surprising.  Again, try plugging it into an outlet to see what happens.

@Old_geekster thanks for you help again and the prompt response,

I should have been more clear, the laptop is always plugged in while I'm gaming. The only time it's really unplugged is when I take it out of the room, which is rare. But, since my problems have started, I haven't been able to unplug the power/charging cord without the PC immediately dying (no power), which obviously is happening because the battery is shot.

At this point would it be right to assume that the issues I'm experiencing are probably correlating and my main problem is the battery and I will have to replace the battery to troubleshoot any other problems that may be occurring?

Also, I'm not exactly sure how to order a new battery for my device.

If you mean the programs that came preloaded on the PC, you use something known as a factory reset and for that you need HP Recovery Media.

If you mean programs that you installed -- that is not possible.  Because, you would have had to make an image backup to restore FROM.

That error code means your disk drive is failing and needs to be replaced.

Once you have the replacement drive, read the information below about HP Could Recovery to be used to restore your PC to working condition:

If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC. The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC. Here is the link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205

--------------------------------

If the HP Cloud Recovery is not available or does not work, you may have to look into ordering HP Recovery Media -- which is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.

You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update"

If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the + symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Support:

Software failures will generate on-screen messages, usually about not finding an Operating System or not being able to boot. When the screen is blank, the PC is experiencing a major hardware failure.
--------------------
To determine the cause with hardware failures, you have to be able run diagnostics. We have no way of accessing your PC from here, so we can not do that for you. You have to do it yourself.

You do this by pressing the Esc key repeatedly when rebooting and then, when the HP Startup Menu appears, selecting Diagnostics (usually F2) and letting it run.

If it is NOT possible to run diagnostics, or if that does not work, then there is NOTHING more you can do by yourself -- and there is NOTHING we can do because we have no way of accessing your PC from here to run diagnostics or repair hardware.

You will need to have the PC physically examined in a service facility by folks that can run their own diagnostics to determine what is wrong with it.

--------------------
If your PC is still under the original one-year HP warranty, or if you have purchased an extended warranty from HP and this is still valid, then having HP do this is an inexpensive option for you. In that case, you should contact HP Customer Support to see about having it repaired or replaced under warranty.

Here is how you can get in touch with support:
Step 1. Here is the link: http://www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Select the product type.
Step 3. Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
Step 4. Select the country from the drop-down.
Step 5. You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

--------------------
If your PC is no longer under warranty, then it will cost you up front to have HP examine your PC. If you want to do that, you will have to contact an HP Repair or Service Center to see if they can examine the PC to determine the cause(s) of the problems, if it can be repaired, and an estimate of the repair costs.

Since you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center

If you don't get useful results using the Service Center link, here is the main HP link:
