Hi:

For the ACPI\HPIC0003:

I have zipped up and attached the driver you need for that device, below.

Download and unzip the file to its folder.

Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager, click on the ACPI\VEN_HPIC&DEV_0003 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for drivers option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

For the second device you need this driver...

Intel Thunderbolt 3 connection management application and driver

I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with your laptop.

I was likely the person who recommended that you do a factory reset -- and my motivation for that is the fact that with a PC with switchable graphics, such as yours, the only video drivers that are reliable are those from HP.  Thus, doing a factory reset would automatically install and load those drivers.

As to the Windows version, HP does not tell us what version of Windows runs on each laptop, nor do they tell us what version was originally installed.  In your case, it looks like that version was 19.09.  And, since you are not seeing an update for  20.04, the that update is likely being BLOCKED by Microsoft, and that is probably due to the graphics situation.

We can do nothing about that because we can't force MS to release the block on your model PC, and we can't pressure HP into writing drivers for newer Windows versions.

You said you tried newer Windows versions on your own and those did not fix the issue.  But -- did you back off the HP drivers before those installs and restore them afterward?  Since you did not mention this, I am guessing you did not.  If your forced the newer Windows versions through your own installs, you did NOT get HP video drivers -- and that could be a major basis for seeing no improvements.

So, I suggest the following:

1) Follow these directions for backing off the HP drivers on your PC:  https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/68426-backup-restore-device-drivers-windows-10-a.html

2) Install a newer version of Windows from the media you used before

3) Restore the HP drivers from the backup you made.

See if that makes any difference.

We don't have any idea what your options are for recovery without knowing the detail model number of the laptop.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery is not getting charged on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you turn off the computer and connect the charger for a couple of hours and check whether the battery is getting charged.

If you continue facing the issue, then update the BIOS from the below link and test.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

mail app not working and file explorer windows will not minimize after update 12/9 & 12/8..

After my computer updated yesterday 12/9 the mail app isn't working and closes itself. Also, in file explorer the windows do not minimize they only stay maximized or shrink down to toolbar. You cannot make a small box to drag/ drop a file into another window. This all started after the last update. Is there anyone who can give me advice on hoe to fix this? The computer was 100% perfect before. its a spectre.

My Envy laptop was totally erased

I tried to do a system recovery by clicking on f11 and then I got a window saying restoration Incomplete with 3 options. save log, details and retry. if i choose any of those the laptop restarts and it goes back tp the same window. there is a dialog behind it that says "The system cannot find the drive specified" I did not specify any drive. the it restarts again and is the something allover again.

If i shut it down and tunr back on it goes to the same screen of restoration failed.

What do I need to do to get a full re-install of what was originally.

This was caused by me when I tried to save a full back up on an external drive.

Is there anything I can do to fix it, restore it to it's original stage like new?

Thanks,

PVallarta

I want to purchase something to back up my laptop to. I have no idea what I need or where to begin. I don't have a ton on it but would hate to lose it. I have photos and documents saved in the cloud but I'm sure there are other things I would want. Thanks!

I have an update:
in the first day when I updated bios it still didn't fix my problem but yesterday, I used the laptop for the entire day and didn't crash once, freeze or didn't boot!
it seems to work but I still have to use it for some days so I can make sure it works
