My question was not answered at all. It had to do with my notebook failing to do a proper restart as required when installing major upgrades to Windows 10 - - NOT INSTALLING A PRINTER ! If HP has a fix for my problem I have failed to find it - - AND HP has not helped me in any way. As a result, attempting to upgrade from Windows 10 version1709 to Windows 10 version 1803 completely crashed MY NOTEBOOK and it is now an unusable piece of junk. TYVM.

Recovery disc for dv6-6c10us
Hi,
I had a hard drive failure (failure ID GLG67A-00096S-QFPK01-60BE03) and have replaced the hard drive. I tried to reload the operating system from Microsoft using the 25 letter code but it recognizes this as preloaded from a manufacture. How do I request a copy of the operating system to reload on the computer? The only item I saw on the driver and software downloading site was for windows 7 and 8. This would be a start and I am happy to go use Windows 8. It is not clear to me what file to download for the recovery. Any advice? Thanks
JP
Model dv6-6c10us
Orignal OS was windows 7
Re: USB 3.0 Driver for 570-p026 on Windows 7
Sure.
You can give that a try.
The problem most folks face is that the USB 3 driver gets you past the first KB and mouse freeze but after W7 installs and restarts, the KB and mouse freeze again because the driver only works on the first part.
So, hopefully you won't have that issue.
If you do, then you will have to follow the guidance on that link I posted.
BTW...of the 2 USB 3 drivers listed on the link you posted, this is the direct link to the driver you need...
Re: Spectre x360 (2018) OVERHEATING!
The understandable consumer desire for thin lightweight devices with high performance components and the minimum of fan noise makes for a difficult set of design trade-offs.
Even with the use of 15W Thermal Design Power 'U' series processors, these devices can generate an great deal of heat. The thin lightweight form factor limits the total volume and mass available for the heatpipe(s) and heatsink, whilst the small fan(s) can only move a limited amount of air. To limit the amount of thermal throttling, the processor is allowed to run pretty hot - up to perhaps 85°C. All this means that the areas of the system around the thermal solution as well the exhaust air get rather hot.
I doubt these systems were overheating - they are designed to throttle down their performance to keep within safe limits for the hardware when they are running hot, also they will switch off automatically if thermal limits are breached. However, they are probably not suitable for use on the lap unless some sort of pad is used under them or you set a power plan that limits the performance to reduce heat generation. These issues are not unique to HP; I have experienced them with similar products from competing manufacturers.
For anyone interested in monitoring the internal temperatures of various components together with other parameters, I recommend the free HWiNFO. If you are after a pad to use your computer on your lap, one possibility amongst many is Belkin's Laptop Cushdesk.
Re: Recovery disc for dv6-6c10us
Hi:
You have two options...
1. Order a set of recovery disks from this non-HP vendor, as HP no longer sells them for your notebook.
2. Make your own plain W7 home premium installation media, and save the $31 or so dollars.
Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.
I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD.
Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.
Re: EliteBook very slow after driver installation
The registry key override should not be needed any more as Microsoft fixed the slowdown issue with AMD processors in the August 2018 cumulative update for Windows 10.
I recommend installing the latest updates then experimenting with removing those two subkeys.

Hp envoy. Allowed updates from hp app. does not allow Windows to run
let the HP app update my pc. Now my Win 10 will not run. Worked for 5+ hours, saving and tryin to restore. even tried to restore to factory settings but it still will not load windows. At the point where it brings up a “Administrator -Welcome” screen but the goes to Restoration Incomplete loop. HP help is ineffective and frustrating. I have kids tryin to do school work on this this weekend. Any ideas?
Re: Hp envoy. Allowed updates from hp app. does not allow Windows to run
I assume you don't have Recovery Media to boot from? Do you have access to another computer?
If so you can create bootable media. Your Windows 10 license key is embedded in BIOS and you can reinstall Windows without HP Recovery Media. Microsoft provides the free Media Creation Tool to download files and create a Windows 10 usb flash drive.Advantage is you will have latest updated version of Windows 10. At least 8gb flash drive required:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Select Download tool now, and Save it. When ready click it to Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit) for Windows 10.
The Guide here shows the steps.Pay attention to Step 5 since you will be using another pc:

Re: Notebook stuck on 54% doing factory reset
Instead of using Reset- choose Recovery Manager and do a System Recovery:
Having problem to sign in the device
Re: Spectre x360 (2018) OVERHEATING!
I totally agree with everything stated by
One thing I found that does help is adjusting cpu under Power Plan, Advanced settings. Under Processor power management I set the Max CPU to 95% on both battery and on power. You won't even notice a speed difference with the powerful CPU adjusted down a bit but it will make it run slightly cooler.
Re: Hp envoy. Allowed updates from hp app. does not allow Windows to run
Hey Cheryl. I’m tired and frustrated. been at this a good while, trying to get the pc up and running for my kids school projects. I will take this laptop back to best buy tomorrow to see if they can resurrect it. The pc was working great until I allowed the HP app to make updates, then all went south. I am most disappointed. I should not be a tech expert to expect basic performance from a computer.
Re: Hp envoy. Allowed updates from hp app. does not allow Windows to run
I understand completely and am sorry that you are having this issue. Nothing more frustrating than doing something you thought was right only to end up with a complete mess.
Hopefully the guys at Best Buy can get you back up and running. One word of advice.Don't let them talk you into believing you need to buy a copy of Windows 10 to fix it. Not saying that will happen but I have seen it before. Tell them your Windows license is embedded in BIOS and they can use the free Media Creation Tool at Microsoft to make a bootable USB flash drive to reinstall if needed.
Re: no usb boot
there are no error messages
the machine just sits there idle, doing nothing, locked
I left it overnight ( since this question was asked)
nothing has progressed
other places on the internet have suggested that I remove all devices from all USB ports in order to boot, but if there's no operating system on the HDD why bother?
I'd post a photo of the screen, but I don't have a camera that can take a photo with a filesize of 1000kb

I have the same problem. Have you been able to solve yours?
My machine is:
