HP entering power saving mode and shuts off

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion x360 and a LG monitor connected to it. Recently I started to have an issue. If I’m not using the laptop for 5-20 seconds it will display a message” No signal. Entering Power Saving Mode”and shuts off. And pressing a key or the mouse doesn’t wake it up right away. It requires the PIN like if it’s waiking up from sleaping. Please help me as this drives me crazy and I can’t work normally. Thank you.

So far I've had no further issues with the trackpad. This new driver works perfectly.

Once again, thanks very much for your help!

That's great to hear.

Kudos to Rsel and hopefully more HP Spectre x360 users can have a much more fluid experience with their devices.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

If you're trying to use the Rollback function to revert back to Win7, that will not work as the Win10 Upgrade is known to corrupt the recovery information that function uses.

Your only recourse at this point is to purchase something known as HP Recovery Media...

HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.

You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836

If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, another site you can check is: http://www.computersurgeons.com

I have looked at it before, although what exactly are you asking me to look at?

Please elaborate for further assistance.

Thanks for the reply.

As I Understand you are are getting the error message - "bios image file specified did not pass validation",

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Have you attempted a BIOS recovery to resolve this concern?

If you haven't, Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS that should help you to overcome this difficulty.

Cheers.

Hi,

You can try making your own plain W7 64 bit Home Premium installation media as follows...

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-and-office-iso-downl...

I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD.

Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.

Hi:

You should install all of the drivers you listed under Chipset.

Diagnostics.  I never have installed those.

Firmware--read what the ME firmware update does.

If it is extremely important, you may want to.

If not, don't.

I am usually leery about installing firmware updates.

They are not driver updates and if something goes wrong, or the PC performs worse afterward, there are no do-overs.

You need the System Event Utility for some of the Fn keys to work.

The HPSA is completely optional.   I have used it a couple of times to do PC tuneups and check for driver updates, but that is up to you.  I currently only have that installed on one of my PC's, and that is because HP Orbit required the HPSA be installed.

I was testing out HP Orbit for another forum member and I will probably uninstall both of those apps after a short while.

Connection Optimizer...not necessary.

ProductConfig 30% CPU usage

I was using my laptop fine, until I uninstalled Code::Blocks (A multi-coding language IDE and compiler). Since then, my computer has always had at least 30% CPU usage from a program called ProductConfig, according to Task Manager. What do I do to fix it and what program is this caused by? Thanks :)

Thank you very much again! Awesome.

I forgot to mention this. I ended up using the diskpart method "clean all" to do a more secure erase. I felt for the first time to do that. For future, if needed, I will reset the PC the way you do it by clean install "delete partition"

As for the HP Drivers & Sofware:

First, any of the drivers and software labeled 1709, I don't need to bother with those or should I still install them on the ones we discussed and others, correct?

Chipset: Will do. Now, for the chipset, is there away I can view the version numbers on my laptop?

Firmware: Will withhold. Not sure if it is extremely important or not. I agree with what you said. I feel the same way. Is there away to view the version numbers on my laptop?

What is HP Orbit and what does it do? Should I install it? If so, where do I get it?

Now the ones you said were optional, if I decided to install them will they be like bloatware and slow down my computer. Also, are they like spyware or somthing like that or can they spy on your computer?

Thank you again and my name is Jeff by the way. I hope your day is full of blessing!

Driver-Storage

What about Alcor Micro Card Reader Driver (Windows 10 v1709/v1803)?

Thank you again!

Base System Driver for nc8000

I had to reload Win 7 (32) on a nc8000 and I can't find the correct driver for a base system device. I think it's relates to the PCI Bridge software, due to anytime I insert a PCI card in the slot the touch pad locks up.

Below is the properties. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

You're very welcome, Jeff.

BIOS:

Read what the update fixes or enhances.  If your notebook is running fine, I would not take the risk.

Alcor Micro Card Reader Driver -- yes, that needs to be installed.

If there is a corresponding W10 v1803 driver, then you don't need to install the 1709 versions.

HP orbit is a file sharing program between networked PC's and andriod/Apple devices such as cell phones or tablets.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05084237

I don't believe the applications are spyware, and if you set the programs not to run during startup, then they shouldn't slow down the PC.  If there is no setting to do so, run the MSConfig utility, startup tab, click on task manager and disable any unnecessary programs from running.

If you want Orbit, let me know because you need a file from HP and a file from a 3rd party website since HP has discontinued the app for android.  Fortunately, I found a 3rd party site that has the Orbit APK.
