Two years ago my company bought new hp laptops with Windows 10 and downgraded them to Windows 7 because whatever stupid reason. Now they replaced the downgraded WIndows 7 hp laptops with new Windows 10 hp laptops and offered us (employee) to buy the old downgraded laptops for personal use.
Would it be possible to reinstall Windows 10 with the original product key?
Because on the back of the laptop there is only a sticker with written "windows 10 pro" but any product key. In the forum is suggested to use a product keys finder application, I tried a few of them, but they find only the Windows 7 product key and none Windows 10 product key.
The tool will allow you to make a bootable USB installation flash drive, or save an ISO file which you can later burn to a DVD using your DVD burning program's burn ISO file option.
The software will automatically work with the W10 Pro product key in your notebook's BIOS.
Then after W10 has finished installing, go to your notebook's support page to install the drivers and available software you need.
I have zipped up and attached a free utility below, that should show you the W10 key in the BIOS.
You do not need to enter the key when you install W10.
As for Updates, I use HP Support Assistant regularly, I have the laptop plus 2 HP laserjet printers. No Updates Available as of yesterday.
I will be thrilled yet still very ticked off is my rebooting problem was solely due to "Fast Startup" in Windows. It has been over 5 months since it started and I was problem free for 2 years prior to Dec 2017.
Thanks again, if it doesn't help I will do a Factory Reset . . . which would have taken less time than the many hours I've spent since December trying to figure this out.
I will confirm if this really did solve the rebooting problem in a few days. There are many many people having this same problem.
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
When was the last time it worked without these issues?
In the meantime, please try the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Recover the BIOS using a key press combination
Many HP notebook computers have an emergency BIOS recovery feature that allows you to recover and install the last known good version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional. This emergency recovery feature is separate from the BIOS and is designed to work in the event of a catastrophic BIOS failure.
Turn off the notebook.
Plug the notebook into a power source using the power adapter.
With the notebook off, press and hold the Windows logo key Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. and the B key at the same time.
NOTE:
On some notebook models, it might be necessary to press and hold the Windows logo key Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. and the V key.
While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).
The HP BIOS Update screen displays, and the BIOS update begins automatically. This might take several minutes, and you might hear additional beeping sounds.
If this doesn't help, then
Step 2: Download a replacement BIOS file
If the HP_TOOLS volume (Windows 7) or UEFI partition (Windows 10, 8) on your hard drive has been deleted, or if the emergency BIOS recovery feature did not resolve the issue, download a replacement BIOS file.
To complete this step, you need another working computer with an active Internet connection.
Type the model number of the notebook that is not starting in the Enter your HP product name, product number or serial number box, for example, HP ProBook 645, and then click Find.
If a list of model numbers displays, select your model number from the list.
In the Software and drivers results page for your model, make sure the Detected operating system is correct. If necessary, click Change, select your operating system and version, and then click Change.
Click BIOS.
If you want to view more information about the BIOS update package, click Details.
Click Download next to the BIOS update file, and then save the file to your computer when the download completes.
Make sure to note the location of the saved file.
If multiple BIOS files are available, click Download next to the most recently released file or the one you need (if a specific BIOS file was recommended for restoring your notebook).
Step 3: Create a BIOS recovery flash drive
Use HP BIOS Update and Recovery to create a BIOS recovery flash drive.
To complete this step, you need a blank USB flash drive. The flash drive does not need to be bootable.
Connect a blank flash drive to the working computer.
Navigate to the BIOS file you downloaded and saved, and then double-click the file.
If a User Account Control window displays, click Yes.
The InstallShield Wizard opens.
Click Next.

The recovery BIOS is saved on the flash drive.

Remove the flash drive from the computer.
Step 4: Recover the BIOS using the recovery flash drive
Use the HP emergency BIOS recovery feature and the recovery flash drive to restore the BIOS.
Shut down the notebook that is not starting, and then wait 5 to 10 seconds.
Plug the notebook into a power supply using the AC adapter.
Connect the BIOS recovery flash drive to the notebook.
With the notebook off, press and hold the Windows logo key Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. and the B key at the same time.
While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the notebook for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).
The HP BIOS Update screen displays, and the BIOS update begins automatically. This might take several minutes, and you might hear additional beeping sounds.
If the HP BIOS Update screen does not display after repeated attempts, your notebook might not support this function, or there might be a hardware problem preventing the tool from opening.

All Windows system applications are necessary. I don't think any HP applications needs to be running in the background for proper functioning of the system. If you can share screen shot of task manager or installed programs, I would be able to give some suggestions.
Buongiorno. vorrei sapere se per caso qualcuno sapesse darmi un sito in cui si può controllare la compatibilità del proprio dispositivo con la versione di Windows 10
grazie
Good morning. I would like to know if by any chance someone could give me a site where you can check the compatibility of your device with the version of Windows 10
Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding boot issues with the computer not booting after an attempted factory reset. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
Did you run diagnostics on the computer and check if the computer hardware is fully functional?
Did it give you an error message before this happened?
Now check for issue resolution after restarting the computer. Make sure that nothing is connected to the USB ports of the notebook.
Then please run extensive diagnostics on the computer from this link: https://hp.care/2nES8FT (HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures) and follow the option “Run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more)”
If diagnostics fail or the computer shuts down then the issue is hardware related.
Then contact HP phone support to get the computer serviced. I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:https://hp.care/2r9wSvP
Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
If diagnostics pass then repeat the hard reset from the first link.
Then try to perform a Microsoft push-button reset of Windows 10 by following instructions from this link: https://hp.care/2toQrBj and it resets the computer to factory settings.
Now if the correct on-screen instructions are followed there will be no data loss.
If the F11 option does not work, then please contact HP phone support to order recovery media by following the steps mentioned above.
You could also try to create a Microsoft USB recovery media from this link:https://hp.care/2JkIS3R if possible and check if you are able to boot and install windows from it.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue.Good Luck and keep me posted. I wish you well and will also keep a watch for your response.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead. Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
I have a house pavilion g6 1a75dx notebook. I replaced the hdd and need a download of the os it's windows 7 home premium. Not sure if it's 32 or 64 bit but I have the product key.
Expand/Extract/Burn the iso Image onto a DVD/USB as needed. Microsoft’s Creator Tool will make the required DVD or USB.
Even though it has NO actual HP software/drivers included, you may be able to XCOPY the C:\Users\* area onto a ‘large’ USB stick, via the Command Prompt.
It may be posible to buy a set from Computer Surgeons.
The Key you have is an OEM key and you have to have a NON OEM key for the MS download, I just tried with a key from an MSI laptop and same result, contact the supplier.
So if the torrent one works use that. You dont need a key to download.
After a Microsoft Windows 10 critical update in February 2018, my computer started randomly shutting down and restarting without notice. I did some restore point resets, which ended up crashing my computer. It blue screened over and over and finally wouldn't go back to the desktop. I finally got back into the desktop after 4 days and it was glitchy and would randomly shutdown at least once a day. So I did a FRESH START, which deleted a whole bunch of apps in order to reset the PC. (Below is the list of HP apps that Microsoft deleted doing the Fresh Start.)
I did a Fresh Start because my USB backup drive didn't work to fix my laptop's problems after the critical update. It was no help at all. Weird.
I currently have HP Support Assistant reinstalled, which hasn't, to my knowledge, done a thing to help me get anything reinstalled. Early today I located and downloaded (from HP's Support Forum) the HP 3D Drive Guard and HP CoolSense. I just did this because my computer just started shutting down due to overheating issues.
Since installing CoolSense, it seems to be doing better and hasn't shut down yet. Once installed, does it just start working auotmatically? Or do I need to do something else? Is there anything else in the list below that I must have? I got this computer in 2013 or early 2014. It is not under warranty. I have to do this myself, with limited computer knowledge.
I appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me. Thanks!
