Recovery Manager not loading

$

Hello,
I am trying to Factory Reset my laptop. Unfortunately I'm not tech-savvy and this laptop is giving me a lot of problems.
I had tried to pull up the Recovery Manager on screen and it pulls up a black screen that states "Welcome to HP Recovery Manager. Use this tool to get your computer back up and running if it ever stops working as usual."
I then tried the other method and reset the computer, hitting F11. It brought up a screen that gave me the option for Troubleshooting and then Recovery Manager. Though when I click Recovery Manager I'm just brought to a blank blue screen.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!!!

Thanks for the info.  My husband who really doesn't know what he's doing wants to try backing up the computer I have now and try reinstalling it on the other computer.  I'm sure it's not going to work, although he said that the guy from staples told him he could do this.(Probably just wanted to make the sale)  I did see that although HP doesn't have the disk another company that was given to me does.  It looks like it was $26.99.  Anyway, thanks for your help and I will let you know how it turns out.

New computer worked for a few hours, now won't turn on

I bought my daughter a new HP Chromebook 14 and she used it for one evening, and the next morning it wouldn't start up. There are LED lights on the sides (one for charger, one on the left side) that light up, however, the screen remains black. I went through the directions for system recovery/ hard restart (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03665293), however, these instructions are not at all for this model, nor do they work. Not sure what else to do but return it.

Hey there! , Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand your laptop is stuck at 54%.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Are you resetting the PC using the recovery discs or from the recovery partition?

As you mentioned while resetting your PC back to factory settings it is stuck at 54%.

Try restoring the BIOS to defaults and check if it helps.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Also, Try running a system diagnostics on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.

No, you can not back up one computer and install Windows from it on another computer.

The hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will replace it. If not a retail 2.5" laptop SATA hard drive can be used-Western Digital,Seagate,Toshiba, etc
Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use HP Recovery Media to install Windows. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

Thank you for your reply, but there is a problem with this. My keyboard is out of order and i use an external one connected via usb. This external keyboard is useless until my laptop starts up. For example i cannot use the arrows in order to choose the recommended startup when i have the choise. So i can't use the "f" buttons to enter the BIOS.

Want to enable taskbar in tablet mode.  Go into settings & taskbar and "Multi Display" is grayed out.  CANNOT turn on to appear in both screens.

Please advise ASAP.

Thank you,

Microsft Store Error

When use the Microsoft Store, on certain games I choose to download (for example Dungeon Hunter 5) my laptop makes a weird noise as if it short circuits and then reboots. Any reason why this happens? It also happens if I try to watch adverts in games like Asphalt 8: Airborne. It worries me when it happens because it sounds like it's damaging the laptop!

, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appreciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned the F key is not functioning on the keyboard.

As I recommended in my previous thread to boot into BIOS you have to tap F10 key.

There is a separate key on the keyboard and it's called the function keys. And the F9 key is at the top row of the keyboard.

So you don't have to use the F key to boot into BIOS.

Hope this answers the key!

Have a great day ahead! Smiley Happy
