Re: Hardware drive smart check failed
My laptop isn't booting up. It says Boot device not found, No Hard Drive Installed.
the laptop won't boot up. I get a screen that say's Boot Drive Not Found. I go through the recovery steps and then it says "No Hard Drive Installed". I can't believe it. I've had the computer for 1 year and 7 days and this is what happens. I called customer service for help and they told me I have to pay $60 bucks to find out what's wrong with a latop I paid $700 bucks for. I was happy when I bought my HP, but if this is all the better product I get for that price. I doubt I will ever buy any other HP products. I have a ACER laptop that is over 9 years old and I've never had a problem like this with it. It only cost me $325 buck. I hope someone here can help me with this HP that is just over one year old.
Re: BSOD on waking: iaStorAV.sys
You''re very welcome.
Try updating to the latest Intel chipset driver...Install and restart the PC.
The 2nd file down on the left is the auto install file.
That would be the only suggestion I can offer.
Re: Recovery Media Creation Fail??
Hi,
To add to what WAWood has already written, I'm thinking you should be able to see some kind of files on the recovery drive.
I have always been able to see them on mine.
The good news is that if you ever need to reinstall Windows, and whatever system image you make doesn't work, you can clean install W10 anytime by making your own plain W10 installation media using the Media Creation Tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
It will give you the option of making a bootable W10 installation flash drive. You will need a 4 GB flash drive for this.
The software will automatically work with the product key in your notebook's BIOS.
After W10 has installed, you can go to your PC's support page to install the drivers and available software.

Macrium Reflect is an excellent and easy to use image creating program.
It has worked for me to restore images on all 5 of my PC's except one.
Even though it reported the image was created successfully, when I went to restore it, the image failed with an 'image corrupt' error. I tried it a few times before throwing in the towel.
That is when I used the Media Creation tool to reinstall W10.
So, you are covered any way you look at it.

Hi Apeytouchet ,
Sorry for the inconvenience. Which Norton program do you use? Can you please share a screenshot of the error you are referring to. I can look into it.
Thanks

Incorrect recovery media
Hi,
My laptop was unable to boot and unable to recover from the recovery partition, so I downloaded Windows from the Microsoft website and installed from scratch. Unfortunately I accidentally deleted the recovery partition during the install. After getting everything set up, it's buggy, the trackpad has issues, and battery life is poor. I ordered the HP recovery media from the HP website (product number 852829-004), but I got the following error when trying to install it:
This computer is not supported by the System Recovery Media
You will not be able to continue to recover this system with this media.
Error: 0100-8181-8182
Information Version: 1.1610.5.0 \ 1.1610.5.0
Recovery Media product number: Y63SKU3#ABA1
System product number: T6S94UA#ABA
I called the HP recovery media team, gave them my serial number and product number and they issued me a new downloadable recovery media. I downloaded it and got the same exact error. They offered me a refund after I return the USB.
Can someone please point me towards the correct recovery media for this PC? I love my HP and am sad it hasn't been the same!!
Thanks!
Bernard

Everytime I turn on my HP mini 110 it says enter current password and I don't remember it, my p/n is CNU92396RD
Re: Incorrect recovery media
Clearly shows the Recovery Media does not match the laptop. Have no idea how you would get it resolved though.
Recovery Media product number: Y63SKU3#ABA1
System product number: T6S94UA#ABA
When you installed Windows 10 from MS site-did you install drivers from your Support page?

Advice on Driver Scan Update Results Please
Hi,
Due to issues with my printer not being able to print wirelessly and re downlaoding the software for it to no avail, I stumbled across this software driversupport.com which I downloaded and ran.
It says I have 11 out of date drivers and 3 missing ones, one of which is my printer driver which I have gone through Cannon to try and sort the issue. I'm sure the drivers on Cannon's website wouldn't be out of date?
WOuld you pay for the software to update the drivers and if you get Microsoft updates all the time, why would your drivers be out of date?
Thanks for any advice.

So, basically, I recommend you have an external keyboard (like USB keyboard) to use.
Turn off the PC. Ensure PC is plugged into external monitor. Plug in the external keyboard but don't use it yet. Start the PC (press the power-on button) and even though you do not see anything, beging tapping Esc button repeatedly (like tap-tap-tap). Wait for a while and press F9 once.
Close the laptop immediately , like this. Once this happens, the signal should be transffered to the external monitor.
You can navigate with the external keyboard now.
Does it work for you ?
The USB keyboard/mouse arrived today, so I tried your recomendations above. It worked perfectly, and I now have Kubuntu 17.04 installed. I also noted that now that the external keyboard/mouse are connected to the USB ports, that I can now turn on the power button, close the lid and can see the first screen display, to press ESC. So now I have the oher options if needed.
Down the track a few weeks, I will be able to install the VM and then install Windows 7 pro from a USB boot. Thanks VERY much for all your help, much appreciated.
Regards,
Peter

Hi,
Well, what I can say ? I may only say: do you believe them ? They DO want your money don't they ? It is up to your choice.

Re: My laptop isn't booting up. It says Boot device not found, No Hard Drive Installed.
Sounds like the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.
Sadly hdd's of today do not last 9 years like was once common.New adavnces-EIDE to SATA now. Faster but not as dependable, imo. Of course most laptops are faster and produce more heat now too and heat is enemy of hard drive.
A retail 2.5" laptop SATA hard drive can be used-Western Digital,Seagate,Toshiba, etc. Not sure how easy it is to change the hdd on this model- HP has made it more difficult on many models to access. Need your Product Number to find Maintenance Manual.https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
