Getting Windows 8.1 for a laptop with Ubuntu
I require both Linux and Windows. I have bought an HP laptop which comes with factory installation of Ubuntu, how can I get Windows (either 8 or 7) in it? Does HP provide some options or I have to buy from retailers?
Also, if I do replace (factory installed) Ubuntu and customize the machine with Dual Boot of Windows and another Linux Distro, is my guarantee/warranty void?

what i read from the article or site that you gave me were good... but its not the problem... i have a HDD which is tottally formated, and when i use my usb stick to reformat or to install some OS/winxpSP2, it goes to the select menu and then, adter a few seconds while loading to setup, it said line 1 is bla bla bla... hmhmhmhmhmhm...

Compaq CQ58 (Windows 8) - uninstalled Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
Hi - I was having a little purge of my junk programs and inadvertently uninstalled the Synaptics drivers, so now I have lost much of the functionality of the trackpad; two-finger scrolling, Windows 8 swiping etc. I've tried downloading drivers direct from Synaptics but nothing has worked so far...little help here please!

Formatting Compaq mini
Pls how do i format a Compaq mini............... I don't have an external cd rom, so i copied the vista OS in a flash and when i try booting the system from the flash its shows a black blank screen with the cursor and it will just be like that............... Anybody with a solution

I could save MicorsoftFixit to a 1 GB flash card, then pasted contents of flash card on to Desktop of HP which has issues
When i double click then window opens up for Windows Installer and it states This instalation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package
Any further advice madam

I had the same issue on my HP EliteBook 8760w yesterday. I was able to get back into Windows by booting into Safe Mode. From there it automatically said the update failed and uninstalled it which rolled everything back to the way it was before the update. It took a long time to uninstall the update and revert everything back to the way it was before the update. I haven't tried the update again yet but I have a feeling it might have to do with the video card drivers or some other driver issue. I'll probably wait a few weeks and see if they release a new version of the update or see if anyone else has the issue and comes up with a solution.
