Re: Unable to find the Compaq Presario C795VU (FF411PA#ACJ) window 7 (64 bit) drivers.

Hi:

HP retired support for that model series because it is 10 or more years old.

So, finding drivers will be difficult.

First of all, there were never any W7 drivers for that model, you have to use the Vista drivers.

If you have the Vista recovery driver disk, perhaps you can get the drivers from that.

I can give you these W7 drivers so you can get connected to the internet...

You can use these W7 drivers for the quick launch buttons, wireless card, the wireless assistant, and the bluetooth.

Quick Launch Buttons

This package contains the software that enables the HP Quick Launch Buttons, which are special function keys on HP Notebooks. This software works with supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49001-49500/sp49104.exe

Atheros AR5007 wireless card

This package contains the drivers for the supported Atheros Wireless LAN Adapters in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54972.exe

HP Wireless Assistant:

This package contains the HP Wireless Assistant for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The HP Wireless Assistant is a user application that provides a way to control the enablement of individual wireless devices (such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or WWAN devices) and that shows the state of the radios for these wireless devices.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45222.exe

Bluetooth:

This package contains the software required to support the HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology in supported notebook models running a supported operating system. The HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology provides wireless connectivity to other devices from the integrated module of the supported notebooks. It also provides additional Bluetooth Profiles.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47001-47500/sp47022.exe

You may be able to use some of the drivers from this webpage...

Thanks,

that worked to get my old browser back.  I dont know what else I am missing for now. I know this install does not navigate or have some of the same terms for places I used before, but my browser is a big help.

You're very welcome.

Here's the problem...

Microsoft keeps revising W10 every 6 months, so what you had on there before the hard drive crashed, is probably not the same version the PC repair shop reinstalled.

The Microsoft media creation tool website only includes the latest release of W10, so going back to the version you had on there before would be problematic.

In any event, it is probably best to have the latest version installed (version 1809), because of the security update support.

I have had to 're-setup' Windows 10 almost every time they update it, and they always seem to throw in some new gimmick that I have to figure out.

thx for the reply paul,

I have not Vista recovery driver disk but I saved in my lapotp Vista 32Bit all drivers.

If hp retired my laptop series then can i use 32 bit vista drivers on the window 7 (64bit).

Are there any difference b/w 32 bit and 64 bit driver ?

You're very welcome.

Some of the 32 bit drivers will work if they also contain the 64 bit driver files.

If they don't then they won't work.

After you go through the drivers I posted and the ones from the link I posted, let me know what you still are missing, and I'll see what else I can do to help you out.

The drivers exist, but we have to hunt for them.

Hi Asmita,

Thank you for replying.

Were there any hardware or software changes made?

I personally didn't do any changes. As well in automatic download and upload, I've selected for automatic Download but update will be done manually.

Results:

Step 1:

Not working. Same three steps started as mentioned in the end of this e-mail.

Step 2:

Not working. Same three steps started as mentioned in the end of this e-mail.

Step 3:

Not working. Blue screen was supposed to pop i assume but black screen appeared and same three steps started as mentioned in the end of this e-mail.

Step 4:

Hard disk smart check :Passed

Hard disk Short DST : Passed

Hard disk optimized DST: Failed

Failure id: GLMXTK-6LR9BC-MFPWW1-61UT03

Product ID: C9L68PA#ACJ

hard disk test : Failed

Step 5:

Not working. Blue screen was supposed to pop i assume but black screen appeared and same three steps started as mentioned in the end of this e-mail.

I tried all 5 steps, but nothing worked.

I am stuck with these three lines and a black screen:

1. Preparing automatic repair. - Appearing for 14 secs.

2. Diagonising your PC. - Appearing for 10 secs.

3. Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete. - Appearing for 3 secs.

This cycle is repeating.

Request you to kindly help me out.

Aditya

Very poor performance

Hi,  Since new my laptop has been constantly slow in working, sometimes taking about an hour to boot up, and taking 17 hours to configure after an update.  Sometimes wil not shut down and constantly freezes in use and many times programs will not respond. I have tried the hp performance tune up and other suggestions which do not make any difference or they also do not respond . Any checks seem to say that all is well but they obviously cannot be for this laptop to be so bad. I bought this laptop to update from my old laptop which i thought was very slow , but it is still rapid compared to this.  Can anyone give any help on this matter before this laptop gets thrown through the window.

HP laptop won't turn on our stay on

My laptop worked just a couple days ago. It won't turn on, the power light turns on for a few seconds and then off again when I press the power button. No fan noise or anything. I have unplugged the battery and ac adapter, held power button for a minute or more even then plugged it back in and still won't work. I've tried those variations about five times and still nothing. Please help me figure out how to make it work again. The power light on the bottom right side turns on for few seconds. I don't hear any of the usual noises it makes when turning on.

Question

Hi:

If you can't repair or recover the operating system, you can clean install W10 as follows...

To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.  Make the 64 bit installation media.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

  1. Select Download tool now, and select Run.
  2. If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
  3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
  4. Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

  5. Select which media you want to use:
  6. USB flash drive.  Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

Hey Guys,

I want to nuy more ram to increase some spped on this PC but dont know if theres slots available nor if i actually can.

Hi:

Your notebook has a Pentium processor.

You can upgrade the memory from 4 to 8 GB, but since there is only one slot, you would have to remove the 4 GB chip and install the 8 GB chip.

Below is the link to the service manual...the memory R & R procedures can be found in chapter 6.

,

Thank you for replying,

After reviewing your post thoroughly, As I understand you have tried to follow the steps suggested and unfortunately nothing has helped to resolve this issue.

In this scenario, I would suggest here to run an extensive system diagnostics test as well as an extensive test on the Hard drive from F2(Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance).

Depending on the test results if the test fails then this is clearly a possible hardware failure with the notebook.

If the test passes, I would suggest the next option would be to perform a system reset on the PC, for more details, please follow this link: HP PCs - Resetting Your Computer (Windows 10)

If this does not help then the next step would be to perform a recovery using the recovery media, for more details on how to obtain the recovery media, please click here.

I will share you a private message with details. Please watch your inbox for more information.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead! :)

Windows 8.1 Recovery Manager Installer - update

0

Hi,

I received a message from HP Support that an update was needed for my device. It wants me to update the Windows 8.1 Recovery Manager Installer.  I noticed when you download the installer it was going to set a "recovery point".  How can I be sure the recovery point will NOT be set to the original manufacture point?  I don't want to lose my files or anything I have on my PC.

Thank you for your help,

BA
