Hi,
I buy a new pc for my wife for christmas.
Surprise, after doing windows update and hp updates which are recommended it won't start anymore!
Restart 10 times. The recovery won't work. I have a blue screen with "bad system config info".
I'm furious about your product wich is unusable while it is new. Never see this in 10 years! What the hell!
Thanks for your help.

Hi

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
AND/OR - Windows Logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
AND/OR - If you’re using multiple displays, try projecting video to a different monitor.
Press the Windows Logo key + P, select a display, and then press Enter.
So a Microsoft update borked your PC?

And you made the Recovery Media?
Cannot.

Sorry typing from my phone and I missed a digit. Should be M4PD4F making it a 24 digit code not what I typed earlier. I’m in the US. Checked with HP and the warranty expired in October. Just did some research it looks like a new hard drive runs around $50 plus labor costs which is quite cheaper than purchasing a new computer. So I guess that’s my plan. I’ll just have live without a computer for a while. From what I’ve read this seems to be a fairly common problem that appears after you’ve had the computer for just about a year.
Bump! (1x24h does fit the rules, right?)
Hi
Hard Disk 1 SMART Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure
Is the actual message.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-15-bs000-laptop-pc/15551412/model/16646257
If you have access to another PC,( college library family or friend ) and a USB stick, this could get you up and limping.
https://lubuntu.net/downloads/
It does not need a Hard Disk to function, and can perhaps copy off what is valuable on the current HDD if it still spins, basic, lumpy but who isn't?
Thank you for your help. It sounds like I have several options.
Nothing new.
There are DOS based BIOS flashers I'm sure that would run from the W8 USB.
I would just buy and install a HDD, but you seem determined to do things the hard way.
Bye.
Prego.
Ok let's wait for the docking station: stay tuned!
Thanks for Your postings.

Hi thanks for your quick reply.
I already try to restart with the first step but no result. There are no externall connected device.
It seems like the Os does not exist, the screen indicate this :
----
Boot device not Found
Please install an operatin systm on your hard disk drive
Hard disk (3F0)
F2 System Diagnostics
----
I launch the hardware diagnostics :
- Memory Quick check passed
- Hard drive check passed
It's strange ? It's like recovery erase the OS ?
Why whould i reinstall windows on this new pc ?

I dont know.
For me, it is resolved my problem then I would.
So either you have a Hardware issue, like a missing Hard Disk, loose/disconnected Hard Disk or just plain faulty.
Or it is a Firmware/Software issue, like the BIOS setting for Legacy / Secure boot, or the Boot Loader is corrupted.
Maybe the OS really does need re-installing.
Ok, thanks for your help. It stinks! I will send it back.
Prego.
You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with why the Microsoft tool doesn't work.
I would use the Rufus utility as plan B...
Plan C would be to use the free DVD burning software link I posted and burn the file to a DVD.
