Hi

Do you have a fault with the PC?

Do shops that sell PC's run their display models in a heated showroom for 10 - 12 hours?

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat

NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
AND/OR
HOW DO I USE DIAGNOSTICS?

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows comes pre-installed on new HP computers, but if not on yours, download here:- http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93457.exe

Dear

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Community.

  • This looks like a hardware issue. Also, the error code you provided - I checked it and it tells me that the hard disk drive (HDD) has failed.  Since this is faulty HDD/hardware component, you will probably not be able to recovery your files. If you want to attempt data recovery, please let me know and I may post additional instructions.

  • I noticed your PC is out of warranty - you will need to buy and replace the disk on your own.
  • You can buy HDD or SSD from online or local tech stores, and replace it on your own or contact HP Authorized Service center for assistance. Refer to the product model service manual >here< and >here< or watch videos in YouTube.

  • Check the TKB article for details about such issues >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Storage-Hard-Disk-Drive-corruption-and-replac...

Last part - once you replace the faulty HDD component - you will need to reinstall back your operating system

Let me know how it goes. Provide an update or feedback.

Hello

Welcome !

The situation is caused most likely due to Internet Explorer - the Microsoft "browser" that you use. But even Microsoft senior representatives do not consider this a browser any more. They call it "legacy solution" - source >> https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-security-chief-ie-is-not-a-browser-so-stop-using-it-as-your-default/

  • Your solutions-> switch to modern real browser - consider Firefox by Mozilla (my recommendation)

or Google's Chrome, or Opera (based on Chrome)

Firefox is modern, secure, free and open source browser which cares about your privacy + it can add multiple extensions. Good articles - Why choose Firefox ?

If you love IE too much and do not want to move away from it, here are instructions which you may try:

  • You could also turn off the script warnings:

From within IE, go to  Tools> Internet Options> Advanced
Check "Disable script debugging" and uncheck "Display a notification about every script error"

  • If you're seeing the message on all or nearly all sites, a browser add-on might be causing it.

Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
or

from Start> Run (or Windows logo key + r) type in iexplore.exe -extoff

(iexplore.exe<space>-extoff) then hit Enter.

Try with the MSN website.

If the problem goes away, an add-on is causing it.

To determine which add-on is causing the problem see this old (but still relevant) article:

IE Blog  Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode >> http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

Recover and restore initial software on a new harddrive

I have a Pavilion x360 and have problems with the hard drive. I do not have access to the windows as a recovery installation failed halfway the installation. When starting up the laptop I get an error message that SMART control of the hard drive failed. It suggests that I need to replace the hard drive. Also did a optimized DST control of the hard drive and this passed. So, I am not 100% sure if the hard drive replacement is really needed.

Anyhow, if I replace the hard drive with a similar type, I would like to reinstall the original software as it was installed on the laptop. Where can I get this software and install on my laptop?

Hi:

Yes, you need to replace the hard drive.

You may want to consider replacing it with a 2.5" solid state drive which is better performing and since it has no moving parts, normally more reliable.

I believe that if you use the HP cloud recovery client utility to create a bootable recovery drive, that should restore the hard drive to its 'out of the box' condition, as I would not understand why HP would require a 32 GB hard drive, just to reinstall W10 when you can do it with an 8 GB flash drive using the Microsoft media creation tool.

Here is an info link for how to use the cloud recovery client utility.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205

In order for the software to work, you should replace the drive with one of the same storage capacity.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series where you can find the HDD R & R procedure.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool returns error “Product ID does not match or is invalid” with valid Prod ID

Hi There,

I have a HP Envy x360 15t w-100 that had the hard drive completely fail. The disk is no more and not repairable and I have a replacement drive coming tomorrow but will need to reinstall the OS, drivers and HP software clean. I’ve purchased a USB flash drive and am attempting to use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, on my other working Toshiba laptop (running windows 7). When I get to the System Information page I check “I need to enter product ID for my HP System, and enter the ProdID from the label on my laptop which is L8R69AV. When I type this into the field I receive the error “Product ID does not match or is invalid. Please contact HP Support”. I cannot contact HP Support as the item is now out of warranty. Unfortunately I don’t have the money to pay for tech support or to buy the recovery USB stick from HP and so using this Cloud Recovery Tool was my only hope. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Andy.

Thanks so much for your swift reply Paul. Unfortunately L8R69AV is the extent of the ProdID on my label - there is no other suffix unless you can think of something that is typically added. If not I guess I will just have to take the route your proposed below. I was hoping to use the HP tool so as to ensure that all the correct drivers and software were installed. I recall reading in another thread that a user performed a fresh Win10 install and added the drivers afterwards but could never quite get the temperature management just so, presumably because he was lacking some driver or HP software that should be sending this and adjusting the fan accordingly.

Many thanks for your help Paul!

You're very welcome.

If can boot into the BIOS, check the system information screen which should show the whole product number.

For example on the HP PC I am typing this reply with, the product number is SQ239UC#ABA.

All of my HP PC's have the product number arranged like that.

If you have to go the clean install route, I may be able to help you with the drivers you need.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Did you try another charger or battery?
  • Does the notebook shut down immediately (right after you unplug the charger)?
  • Do you get any error message on your notebook (Such as Plugged in, not charging, etc.)?
  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
use the following steps:

  • Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on reducing heat inside your computer, see Reducing Heat Inside the PC.

  • After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps.
  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

  • In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent this error from occurring.

For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Does that mean the hardware tests have passed? Also, all drivers and firmware are available on the HP website for download: Click here to access the same, since you haven't provided the complete model name, it would be hard to find exactly which firmware suits your device, you can either provide the details or look up the information on your own, let me know what you'd like to do.

If nothing works or the firmware is not available, you may want to attempt a BIOS recovery: click here for steps.

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
