Re: What driver installs driver ACPI\HPIC0003\2&DABA3FF&0 for HP Notebook - 15-bs028cl

You're very welcome.

There is no direct software package for that device.

W10 is supposed to automatically install that device once you are connected to the internet, as it gets the driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog site.

What I did was to go to the site, download the file, used 7-zip to extract the file into a usable format and then renamed the file and zipped it up.

Here is the source of the driver file...

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=ACPI%5CHPIC0003

IMHO, it will be easier for you to just save that file somewhere, or come back to this forum, click on your user name, find this post and redownload the file.

Re: Drivers for adjusting brightness

Hi:

If you need the graphics driver, install that first and restart the PC.

This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

Then install the hotkey software...

This package contains the HP System Event Utility, which enables special function keys on supported notebook models to be programmed. For example, HP System Event Utility enables users to press the Fn+ESC keys to view system information. This software works with the supported operating systems.

Are all of your USB ports working?  Did you install the amd chipset driver for that?  You can't get it from HP.

Don't know why that is -- but you can download a free partitioning tool from MiniTool Partition Wizard and use that.

Sorry, but this is only a Support Community staffed mostly by volunteers and we can do nothing to track or recover missing property.

If you were signed into your device using a Microsoft account (you would know because your login screen would have shown an email address), then you can follow these instructions from Microsoft:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/11579/microsoft-account-find-and-lock-lost-windows-device

But, if you were signed in to your device using a local account, then you are basically out of luck.

What I recommend is the following:

1) Contact HP Customer Support, tell them about the lost PC and get a case number

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

2) Contact the local law enforcement authorities about the lost PC -- provide them all the information they need and show them proof of ownership. You will most likely need to this to have then return the lost PC to you if they find it

3) When the lost PC is returned, contact Absolute Software to see about getting Lojack for it. That enables you to report a lost PC and then locate it, once it is then connected to the Internet.

According to the specs I could find, this model came out in 2007 -- so in all likelyhood, Win10 is not going to run well on it.

I upgraded several older Win7 laptops to Win10 and only one is still running that, as the other two did not do well.

Laptops older than that often don't have either the CPU horsepower to run Win10 or they don't have compatible drivers.

You really don't have a lot of options for a PC this old as Win7 is nearing the end of its life (and, it's really hard to find a place that will sell you a legit copy of Win7 these days) and Win8.1 is not going to be supported much longer, but is generally easier to find.

Download my System Recovery Files

Hello there.

I just went through the system recovery process and followed all instructions. I have copied the file with the name of "system recovery files" into my desktop, but that's is where I'm stock. How to I download those files into their respective folders? Is there an app that takes that "system recovery files" folder and downloads it again into the computer? How about the licenses for programs like MS Office and so forth? Are they lost?

Any help is good.

Thanks!!!

Trouble reloading Windows 7 onto old Laptop

The HDD in my HP G72 B66US has crashed. It is no longer funtional. I am trying to replace the HDD with a Crucial BX500   240GB. I am attempting to load Windows 7 onto the SSD by using the four HP Recovery disks created when I first bought the G72 B66US machine. I ran the HP Recovery for a factory reset and all four of the recovery disks have been proccessed. When the laptop attempts to reboot it gets stuck on the HP start up screen. A blue HP logo in the center of the screen and at the bottom of the screen is the message "Press ESC for start up options". I have left the laptop at that point for over an hour but it remains frozen. When I shout off the machine and turn it on again there is a message "Boot error - Please insert bootable media".

I have tried downloading a Windows 7 ISO from:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows 7

but when I enter my product key I receive the error message "Then product key you have entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer.  Please contact the devicde manufacturer for software recovery options.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

If the new SSD is significantly smaller capacity than your original HDD, then the HP Recovery function will not work because it starts by reformatting the drive and attempting to recreate the original partition scheme -- which will fail if the new drive is a lot smaller.

As to the product key, what you downloaded was probably a Retail version of Windows, and what you have on your PC was an HP OEM version -- and the two use very different product keys.

You might  be able to find HP Recovery Media for your model PC at this website  http://www.computersurgeons.com/

Good Luck

The original HDD was 500 GB, the SSD is 240 GB.

I removed the SSD from the laptop and it does appear that the files from recovery DVDs were copied onto the SSD. I'm sure the space required to install Windows 7 Home Premium is far less than 240GB. Why is the max capacity difference relevant?

I also tried copying the recovery files directly to a reformatted  SSD. The machine still refuses to boot even when I hit F11 recovery options.  I changed the  boot order back to Internal HDD

Thanks.

Files/Folders Disappeared/Email Account Settings Deleted

Hi All,

On our HP Pavilion, the documents/files on 'C' drive are no longer visible on desktop or within file explorer, email account settings have been deleted, Internet Explorer favourites deleted, toolbar shortcuts blacked out.

Any ideas - is it due to 'C' drive storage space being low?

Thanks.
