Has your issue been resolved?

Is your notebook still in warranty?

Did you contact the Support staff directly to resolve this under warranty?

Short DST check failed

I did a short DST check on my laptop and it failed. What does it mean and how can I fix it?

Did it provide an alphanumeric failure code?

Provide the failure code and I can translate what it means.

Is your notebook still in the factory one year or paid extra care package warranty?

I see your notebook comes from the 2015 model year.

Here is the support portal web page at HP where the drivers are available.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-15-ac100-notebook-pc-series/8499326/model/8819362?sku=N8M28PA

You could actually remove the current hard disk and upgrade to a SATA-3 SSD and install the  Windows 10 Home(64-bit) OS.  Once online the OS will self activate. That would give you an amazing boost in performance.

The hard disk is out of warranty, unless you paid for a care package to extend the warranty.

Did you make a USB recovery media flash drive? If not you can make a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive and use that.

You can download the Windows 10 media creation utility here.

The Windows license activation key is coded in the BIOS and is also on the Microsoft licensing servers, so reinstalling the OS after replacement of the hard disk is not an issue.

PU11W2-81U99A-XD7WLK-60XV03 is the code.

I haven't made a recovery media flash drive

N and B keys operate Capslock, Capslock key does not work.

I have seen similar threads by others, but I feel the need to bring it up again for myself. My N, B, and caps lock keys are not working as intended. The N and B keys now operate the caps lock function, and the caps lock key itself does nothing. The light on the physical key still responds to the fact that caps lock is on, but the key itself does not. I have also noticed that, sometimes, my touchpad stops working as well, but this is fixed by pressing esc.

I have restarted my computer several times and I have also tried using a third-party key remapping program. However, neither of these has worked. Thank you in advance for responding, and just know that this was very tedious to type.

OK.

That is an error code 303, which is a failed hard disk.

I see your warranty has expired, so the cost of a new hard disk is going to be out of your own pocket.

You will need a SATA-3 legacy type or SSD 2.5" mobile hard disk.

You will need to create your own Windows 10 home recovery USB flash drive. The link I provided in my previous response will help you with that.  You will need to use an 8-32GB capacity USB flash drive.

Hi

There are 3 BIOS options for your device as far as I can determine.

2 seem more relevant than the third.

So which one have you got?

Hello.  In an attempt to clear a wifi non-receipt I carried out two Windows resets which didnot complete.  Following that I attempted an HP recovery but found that my Recovery flash drive was corrupted, subsequently my laptop no longer works as I have no access to the bios.  I lookedon HP's website but cannot find any information. i hope that you can help me please. Attach an external USB keyboard.

Let us know whether you have the same problems when typing on the external USB keyboard.

Run command prompt, to do this, click Start, type Command Prompt or cmd in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Run the inbox Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool

Type the following command, and then press Enter.  It may take several minutes for the command operation to be completed:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

After that run:

sfc /scannow

You may need to do the above twice. Let us know how it goes...

Use ESC button to enter in BIOS.

Note the process below will delete all your existing files and will create a new blank Windows installation!

Which I always prefer to do when Windows is corrupted.

Go here and get Windows media creation tool:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Choose the option:

Create Windows 10 installation media

To get started, you will first need to have a licence to install Windows
10. You can then download and run the media creation tool. For more
information on how to use the tool, see the instructions below.
Download tool now
Privacy

Using this tool and some other PC you can create your own USB or DVD
disks and use the USB to install new Windows 10.

When you start installation make sure you delete all exiting partitions you will end up with big unallocated hard drive space choose New and te tool will cerate all needed partitions again.

You will have clean Widnows and in order to have all the latest drivers
automatically from HP go here:

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-bs000-laptop-pc/15551412/model/17850885

and in Software-Solutions sections download, install and run

HP Support Assistant

8.6.18.11 Rev.A 34.2 MB May 4, 2018

this tool will help you to get all the leatest driver updates and to
keep your PC in good health.

No need manually to download other drivers from there the HP Support
Assistant will do that for you when you run it and check Update section.

I am trying to change the keyboard from a French setting to an English setting. For example, I canèt use the appostrophe sign in either Word or any on-line search engine. Can anyone suggest a solutionÉ

You probably should have started your own thread in a more appropriate section.

Your question was OS related so I moved it for you.

Use the Windows Alt code for apostrophe.

 Alt 39

Hold down the Alt key and typoe in 39.  That should give you an apostrophe.

If you want to change it to English:

Go to Settings> Time & Language> Region & Language
