Help! I need your suggestions! I purchased a new hard drive.
1. Hardware: My new hard drive (1 TB) passed the short DST and long DST tests, but the recovery process failed during recovery DVD 3 of 6.
2. Recovery: I made two attempts to execute the recovery process involving the new hard drive (1 TB). When the laptop was new, I made recovery DVDs. The process involved the making of 6 DVDs. My first and second attempt in the recovery process always fails during DVD 3 of 6.
a. After the first attempt, I established the BIOS to its default settings.
b. The BIOS version is F.01. I never changed the BIOS version.
Please examine the screen images. What should I do?
End of message.

Re: Where can I download windows
I am currently waiting for a new hard disk. I want to download a new Windows, the sticker under the laptop is from Windows 7. My first question was where I can download Windows, I already know. Will it be possible to update this Windows up to 10? Do I have to stay on Win7
Re: WINDOWS Qs
SIR ACTUALLY MY LAPTOP WAS BOUGHT BY MY UNCLE( MY MOTHER'S BROTHER)
AND HE SENT IT DIRECTLY TO ME WITHOUT OPENING..
THIS IS SHOWN WHEN I OPENED IT...
YOUR POST HELPED ME BUT I CANT UNDERSTAND EXACT MEANING
Re: Where can I download windows
Then I have already answered that question above...
Your model is not supported by HP for W10, so some things might not work.
You might have to use W8.1 drivers from your notebook's support page, or W10 software from other model notebooks that might work on yours.
So, you can try it if you want, but I would not buy it until you confirm that everything works.
If W10 asks you to enter a product key during the installation, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install.
Then you should have 30 days to experiment with W10 before buying a product key.

After you get your new hard drive, you can install Windows 10 of the same type.
If the sticker is Pro then Win10 Pro. If the sticker is Home Premium then Win 10 Home.

During the installation, skip the part where you input the Windows 10 product key.
After you finish installing Windows 10, you can activate it using the Windows 7 product key.
I did this for a used laptop I bought on eBay in August 2018.

Re: HP ChromeBook only works when it feels like it
Hi
Thank you for the details.
I've been to London, Curry's looked a good store.
Are you sure the computer runs a Chrome OS (the operating system by Google, based on the popular browser) ? You mention Malwarebytes above and there is no such a product for Chrome OS - there is one for Windows, though.
I suggest you contact HP Support directly (via ticket and phone) >> http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html
or Google support>> https://support.google.com/chromebook/topic/3415963?p=hp11&source=hp&rd=2&visit_id=636762667424018737-2732362020
They will work with you towards fixing the problem or replacing the device. Please, describe them your entire situation and include details when/where you purchased it from and how many times it has been serviced. Include S/N and contact details.
Let me know how it goes with them and if you face difficulties.

Have you considered the possibility that the recovery DVD you made is bad?
Recovery Manager locks windows and doesn't install all of the drivers that need to be installed.
I bought my laptop around February and it lasted for about 1 and a half months before the hard drive died. I bought a new hard drive and the recovery thumb drive from hp and tried installing the hard drive when I tried this it did not work I thought that the hard drive was broken so I sent it back and tried to use a hard drive out of a broken hp envy. When I did this the recovery process worked and my computer was fine, but then it broke again. I bought another hard drive hoping it would work but it just keeps locking windows, so I tried only install windows off of a different thumb drive. It succeeded in installing windows but it crashes with errors such as critical process died or page fault in non paged area. So I tried to fix those but all of the things I tried didn't work and I'm still stuck, I don't know what to do from here.

If it is under warranty, why didn't you send it back to HP for repair?

I did not consider the recover DVD could be bad. This situation is very possible.
Re: Need help in clean installation of windows 10
Sorry for late reply.
is it safe to delete partition 1,2,3,5 and 10?
Can’t restart
So I can’t reset my computer no matter what I do. I have tried to “force” it, i have tried trough settings, and every time it says there was a problem resetting your pc
what should I do?
Re: new laptop sudenly displaying a different language. unable to reset

Re: Recovery Manager locks windows and doesn't install all of the drivers that need to be installed.
You could have a bad laptop.
Since you bought a brand new hard drive, what you can do is to do a clean install Windows 10.
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/clean-install-windows-10
The laptop will activate Windows 10 with the product key embedded on the motherboard.
Re: Need help in clean installation of windows 10
I would use a software program to get the Windows 10 key just in case.
Then I would delete all the partitions and let the Windows 10 installation USB do its thing.

Re: Can’t restart
Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer would be to clean install W10...
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, since your PC is not working.
W10 will work with the product key in the BIOS, install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
Re: Win 7 drivers for Elitebook x360 g2
Thanks for the information Paul. I got Win7 loaded now on the Elitebook x360 but still having a few issues. Have 3 unknown devices which I cant find drivers for:
Intel Sensor - {DEA5AE2A-D1FD-438A-A091-CBD484788435}\ISH_BUS
ACPI\ALP0016
ACPI\WCOM481A
I cant find any drivers for these. Also the touchscreen doesnt work with the Video drivers I installed following your instructions and I cant get the stylus that came with the laptop to get paired and working.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Alex
