Re: forgot password from BIOS hp 8540w

All is good, but my laptop is not in the list: there is 8540w probook but not elitebook. I tried running Shogun and ALL command, but got either error 0x89 or " your laptop is not supported"

Also i want to say that i can route with windows, and i also have acess fot boot device (so i boot from usb without any troubles).

For last 24 hours i read many manuals, but nothing help me :(

Re: forgot password from BIOS hp 8540w

Use the 8540w Probook.

He made the mistake when he wrote the program.

It should say 8540w EliteBook.

Re: Windows 7 activation failing with OEM key

I don't think I am using the key from the sticker. It's all faded. I can't find another sticker in the battery compartment. I used some online program to retrieve my windows activation key before reinstalling windows.

Re: AC adapter not recognized when the system is running, BIOS update fails

It took me some time to get a different ac adapter and also check the one I used with a different Laptop. But it really solved the problem. The ac adapter is too old or broken. Thank you for your advice!

Re: forgot password from BIOS hp 8540w

Clear all...

Failed to load defaults, error code: 89

Re: forgot password from BIOS hp 8540w

And if i run "ALL" i take message "Notebook is not supported" (1521)

Cannot enter password/keyboards and touchscreen not working aside from letter M

How can I access my notebook, keyboards are malfunctioned and even the touch keypad cannot be entered aside from letter M. Then when you pressed M it will prompt “incorrect password”.

Re: Laptop not turning on

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and I would like to help

If your Notebook has a removable battery, let's start with a Power Drain

Remove the Battery and Ac Adapter, press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds. Then connect everything back

Next try a BIOS Roll Back

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key Image may be NSFW.

and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.

  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

The HP BIOS Update screen displays and the recovery begins automatically. Follow any on-screen prompts to continue the startup to complete the recovery.

Re: HP stream laptop 11 flickering

,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues with the screen flickering on your HP notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to find a solution for you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the exact model of the PC? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Have you recently made any changes on the PC before the issue started?

Did you check for any damage on the PC?

Have you tried to update the drivers?

Have you checked if the issue persists even in the Bios screen?

Let's try one issue at a time:

In the meantime, let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the Notebook:

Step 1: Performing a hard reset

Resetting the computer can resolve many issues that cause a blank screen. Use the steps in Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset to reset your notebook.

Step 2: Connecting an external monitor to test the display

The notebook screen display might remain black when there is a corrupted graphics driver or a problem with the LCD display backlight. To test the display, attach an external monitor and restart the computer. Testing with an external display is helpful if the notebook display is black but you can hear sounds; such as fans, spinning drives, or beep tones that indicate the computer is operating.

Step 3: Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the screen flickers.

1. Turn off your computer
2. Make sure you have connected the power cable
3. Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the  F10 button repeatedly

Once you are in the BIOS, if the screen flickers, it is likely a hardware failure. The next two steps may resolve the issue. The first one is to do a hard reset. I have included the document 'Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset'. The next and final step is to perform a BIOS update. I have included the information here for you 'Updating the BIOS' as well as updating the graphics card drivers from our HP Support website, using this link.

If the issue persists, I would suggest the next step would be to run a test an extensive test on the graphics card which is listed under Component test

You could also try to run an extensive test on the system. (Please capture the failure ID for further assistance).

For more assistance, please follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Notebook and All-in-One PCs - Troubleshooting Screen Issues (Windows 10, 8, 7)

Alternatively, you can also try the steps suggested in the support document for - HP PCs - Blinking or Flashing Screen After Upgrading to Windows 10

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Re: Locked out of HP 2000 Laptop

Thank you for your reply.  I'm in the process of following the steps you provided but I have another question.  I'm not sure if the laptop is 32 or 64 bit as I can't check (not able to log onto the system) Is there another way to figure that out?  Also, the choices to boot are

Notebook Hard Drive

Internal CD/DVD ROM Drive

I had already purchased a USB assuming I could use one for the backup.  Is there a way around this?

Re: Can't Run Certain Programs

Hi CheryG:

Appreciate your help.

When you asked me to do the Refresh under F11, I went into this menu and cannot do a system restore or reffresh. Mainly, it asks me to choose the Windows 10 OS, and run programs on top of this.

You sparked ideas into my mind. I thought of running Refresh under the safe mode. To get there, i have to press down the shift key while restarting. It boots me up in a strip down Windows 10 environment, so I was able to run the refresh.

All my application programs needed to be reinstalled, but my original problem is resolved.

I do appreciate all your help.

Thanks
