Hi, Yes I have verified there is no skip button. In the Windows 10 setup there is a skip button so i thought the Windows 8.1 setup would. The Product Key is programmed into the BIOS of the machine and is not located anywhere on the machine so it does not give us alot of options. One option is to clean install Windows 10.

As to having wifi on when doing the clean install, it really doesn't matter. When you get to the step asking about getting updates, click NO.

Thanks, I was talking about the Wireless Mouse Reciver Chip. Should that not be plugged in while doing an Clean Install?
I'm even having issues getting it to boot from a Rufus UEFI Created USB? I will plug away at it some more.

For that Model, you'll need to Contact HP Business support - they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Just to note, don't try removing the rtc battery. It won't remove the password, but it will reset the clock - as smc files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the smc will cause it to fail.

If there is an inbuilt recovery area still active then you should try and create a Recovery Media onto a 16 Gb USB stick.
You can download just the W10 OS as an .iso and use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.

If you are needing to do an F11 Factory Fresh install, then you should run a F2 diagnostic to check all the hardware.
Please try a Hard Reset
Press and Hold the PWR off button for 4 seconds to force a PWR off.
Unplug from the wall.
If you see a battery compartment door, your computer has a removable battery.
Remove any removable battery.
This is valid for most notebooks;
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to complete the reset.
Re-insert any battery you removed.
If in doubt please ask.

Oh, your Bluetooth mouse? I don't use one.
If you remove it, your trackpad should work or you can always plug in a wired mouse which will always be supported.

You will need to install the Windows 10 drivers provided by HP starting with the Intel chipset driver.

Thank you for the reply and for the picture.
Even though not in English, I managed to extract the code and to check it.
The error code tells me that the hard disk drive (HDD) has failed. This is not a simple software problem, but a hardware issue. Since this is faulty HDD/hardware component, you will probably not be able to recovery your files. If you want to attempt data recovery, please let me know and I may post additional instructions.
Here are your options on fixing the problem:
If your computer is with warranty period expired, you will need to replace the faulty HDD - buy new one on your own. There are variety of options - vendors you can choose from. You can get it online or from PC retail store, or from HP parts store http://partsurfer.hp.com/
You need HDD with the very same size as the current one or bigger (small will not work) - e.g. if your current HDD is with 500 GB capacity, your new HDD/SDD must also be 500 GB or with bigger capacity. You need 2.5 inch HDD. I recommend you consider HDDs with RPM 7200 as they as slightly faster, 5400 RPM is slower >> https://www.computerhope.com/jargon/r/rpm.htm

Laptop Mircosoft setup..
When setting up my new laptop I choose an incorrect mail address (assuming that it would going to be setup in the process I used firstname@lastname.com). This is not a valid pre-existing mail address. Now Myoffice is registerred to that address and when I try to activate Outlook for example or MyOffice it is sending a confirmation to that address. How do I start over..?

Different user here, same problem.
Rebuilding Pavilion laptop from Recovery image (back to 'out-of-box.')
Multiple updates installed themselves without trouble until it was time for Win 10-1709. It fails every time with the above-mentioned message about needing BIOS upgrade. Sometimes it adds error code 0xc1900208. My current BIOS ver is F.19. Product N5R26UA#ABA, aka 15-ab153nr. There is no upgrade available, BIOS or otherwise.

Bios won't update after opening sp79620.exe
Currently i'm running BIOS version F-35.
I want to update my BIOS to the newest version and downloaded the .exe file from the HP website. When i open the executable it takes me trough some steps but then closes and does nothing. When i restart my computer, the BIOS is still the same version as before.
How can I still update my BIOS?

My laptop will not let me sign in with my password or my fingerprint scan. Only opens guest account
My laptop all of a sudden will not let me sign in using my password or my fingerprint when scanned. I did not change either one of these. When I try either one it displays the message "the User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." Any information on why this is happening and what I can do to fix it without taking it in to be repaired? Thank you.
