Hello, – Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thanks for joining HP Support Forums. I’d glad to be of your assistance!

Going through the post, I understand that the laptop is not booting. First off, can you get the startup screen? Restart the PC & immediately tap on the "Esc" key to get the startup window. Let me know if you can log in to the startup screen.

Alternatively, check the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2s3dZZI

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers Smiley Happy

The system may actually be "open".  After a factory reset, I would not expect this to be the case; nonetheless, it is worth a quick check.

Check / Adjust your security / sharing settings.

Control Panel> icon view > Network and Sharing>

Change advanced sharing settings>

Under Private" (home / work) >Network Discovery

Click (select) Turn on network discovery

Check box Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices

Under Private" (home / work) > Printer Discovery

Click (select) Turn on file and printer sharing

Under Private" (home / work) > HomeGroup connections

Click (select) Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections (recommended)

Under Guest or Public>

Switch OFFNetwork discovery

Switch OFFPrinting file and printer sharing

Uner All Networks>

Enable128-bit encryption

Turn onpassword protected sharing

Solution from:

Chrome "Your Connection is not private"?

Excerpted:

open network and sharing center
On the left side- click on:
change advanced sharing settings.
click on home or work.
go through and check "turn off" for the first three questions.
turn on password.
Your computer connection was wide open!!!!

YES! YOUR ADVICE WORKED; thank you very much!

However, for dummies like me,  I'm going to present the same instructions in a slightly different format.

When / if you encounter "error executing 082C1F20_win.exe"

Exit installer

Open "File Explorer"

Scroll down untill you see "C:", LEFT CLICK

Scroll down until you see folder "SWSETUP", LEFT CLICK

Scroll down until you see folder "SP81667", LEFT CLICK

RIGHT CLICK on "0827FF20_win.exe"

Select "Run as administrator" from drop down menu

Follow directions

I was frustrated at first because I couldn't find the file on my system via standard search functions (maybe I did something wrong)

Re: I need help finding Windows 7 drivers for my Pavilion g6-2235us laptop

Thanks so much for your help, Paul.  It worked GREAT!

I burned all the files to a DVD, from my desktop, because that was the only thing on the laptop that was working.  I didn't bother with a few of the drivers, like the video and sound, because they already seemed to be working fine like the DVD drive.

As you suggested, I started with the AMD chipset driver which installed perfectly, but when I installed several of the other drivers, a few of them, such as the wireless adapter, gave error messages saying they did not install properly.  However, the LAN jack was now up and running so I let it run through several rounds of automatic Windows Updates (about 150 or so) which took a while because each time I restarted after install, it would find a few more (which I know is typical), but when it was finally finished, the wireless networking was now working fine too.

So, everything seems to be fantastic!  It boots up and opens programs fast, like it should, and it's not freezing or crashing like it was with Win 8 and 10.  I can't thank you enough for your help.

Re: What can a warranty cover? (Keyboard, missing key.)

Hi ,

I will also add, that keyboard can also be found cheap on eBay and such if in the USA.

Approx $16.00 if you haven't done so yet.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/new-HP-15-f-15f-Series-Genuine-Keyboard-776778-001-708168-001-Frame-/301540995705

Its rather easy to replace for a laptop. Here is the manual explaining the procedure. Removing and reinserting the ribbon cable needs to be done gently.

Page 34...

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763999

If its too much hassle, you can absolutely use a wireless keyboard as you suggested.

And as Cheryl pointed out, don't spray Lysol on the laptop anymore. It will really streak the screen too.

The correct germaphobe method would be to spray a little on a rag, then gently wipe the keys.

Hope that helps. Smiley Happy

Hi,  :

This site claims to have genuine, unadulterated W7 ISO files for download.

https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool

Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe

You can use either the:

Win 7 Home Premium/Pro (as applicable) SP1 or the (Retail version, but the OEM key on your PC's case will work with it)

Win 7 Home Premium/Pro (as applicable) SP1 COEM (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder)

I have created a system drive using windows recovery drive as it WAS able to recognise my USB drive, so why would the HP recovery manager not recognise it? Very odd.
