For Office starter, please see "Prerequisites to use Office Starter 2010 on Windows 8" and "Description of the Office 2010 Click-to-Run update". When using the Window 8 Upgrade Assistant, you may also be directed to a patch for this issue.
In my experience, the "C:\ESD\Windows" folder is temporary. When you selected "Install by creating media", you had a choice of creating a bootable USB flash drive or an .iso (a disk image) file. If you chose to create the disk image (Window8.ISO), this file will remain on your computer until you delete it. Once the ISO is created, you need to burn it to a DVD for use at a later time. Once the DVD is burned, you can safely delete the Window8.ISO
