Hi, I own a HP Envy dv6 that runs Windows 8 and recently something went wrong with HP SimplePass. First of all, I noticed that when I wanted to log on to my laptop and swiped my finger over the fingerprint reader, nothing happened. It didn't light up or log in. I logged in using my password and opened HP simplepass. For some reason, instead of assigning websites to registered fingers, it had these boxes with numbers as keyboard shortcuts and they were asking me to assign websites to those shortcuts. Whenever I try swiping my finger over the reader nothing happens. It's like it isn't working. I tried unchecking "windows log on" from the simplepass settings and then I tried to check it again and when they asked for the windows log on password, they told me it didn't match. I even tried changing my windows password and they still gave me the same message. I tried uninstalling HP Simplepass and installing it again but it still showed keyboard shortcuts instead of fingerprints. I would like to add that before this happened, I had turned on my laptop and turned off my laptop's wifi through the keyboard shortcut which gave me a message saying "airplane mode: on". When I turned my laptop on the next time, I turned the wifi on and airplane mode went off. I'm not sure if that has something to do with the problem but I thought I'd mention it since the problem occured after that.
