If the notebook had Windows 8 installed why did you reinstall it from a different souce?
The first paragraph of you subject is a bit confusing, please elaborate on what you did.
Manufacturers of notebooks do not include recovery disks. That is an industry standard.
During the setup and configuration phase, when you first turned on your notebook after taklng it out of the box, you were asked if you were ready to do that. You chose not to do that.
Why did you not use the recovery media creator to create a recovery disk set or usb recovery media?
Since you did not create recovery media, I highly recommend that you order a set from HP.
Your notebook had at least four partitions when it was delivered. When you installed Windows 8 on your own, you also removed the ability to press the F11 key and access the Recovery Manager. The Recovery Manager would have enabled you to initiate a recovery to the original factory image without using recovery media.
