I'm working on a Compaq Presario CQ57 Laptop. I chose to upgrade the RAM from 2GB to 4 and it still only shows 1.6GB as "usable". Before the upgrade, I just chalked the .4GB up to shared video memory or something, but not being able to use more than half of what I installed is just ridiculous. I've verified that the one checkbox in "msconfig" is unchecked and also verified that there were no settings pertaining to it in the BIOS improperly set and also upgraded the BIOS, but I'm still having the same problem.
Any ideas?
