Hello!
Thank you for posting in HP support forums!
I am afraid that you want to install ancient operating system (Windows XP) on this moden computing device.
Windows XP is very old operating system (its code dates back to 1999) and Windows XP is going to be out of support by its vendor Microsoft in April 2014. Windows XP is not officially supported by HP on this computer (only 64 bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8 are supported).
As for your specifc questions, I cannot guarantee but you might be able to install Windows XP and you may not need the SATA driver if you open the BIOS and enable legacy mode and if you disabled the SATA mode of the work of the HDD (turn to IDE,AHCI and try). However, as no drivers are available for Windows XP, the hardware may not work properly or not all features may be available.I strongly recommend you not use Windows XP but only latest ones such as Windows 8.1 , Windows 8 or Windows 7. New operating systems are more stable, faster, include more and modern features, they are also a lot more secure.
Do not hesitate to post again if you have any questions!
