I created this account just to thank you. This issue has been plaguing me for a *really* long time, and it has a really simple solution.

 

To others, FYI, just type in "Synaptic" into the Start Menu (Windows 7), click on Settings, click on PalmCheck-Enhanced, click on the cog and turn the slider down to "Off".
