Hi,

Can someone tell me if my USB-DAC HRT Musicstreamer II+ would work with Hp Slatebook 14 Adnroid laptop 4.3 jelly bean? Both has type-A usb plugs and I can provide power to DAC from another source if this laptop can't provide it.

Thank you for your answers.

Hi Malygris1,

There aren't any error messages.

The computer starts up normally.

When I open Outlook, Outlook starts up, but freezes immedaitely.

When I open Internet Explorer, it works 10 min and then it freezes.

When I open documents, same pattern.

I switched 2 weeks ago from Norton Antivirus to Panda Antivirus, the computer worked perfect untill last week.

When I start up in Safe Mode, it works perfect.

That is pretty judgmental and incorrect. Read my post more carefully this time. You will see I did not state that I was absolutely sure. None of us are perfect, but we do try our best to help any member resolve the issue with their PC.

If by Mozilla, you mean Firefox, you should read up on it. It has been deemed not secure. Many of us had had to stop using it.

You should not have ended that post with best regards as you rudely dismissed a member who was trying to help you. To diagnose a system fault we need to know certain details of the faulty system.

Firstly, the model number of the laptop (assuming it is a laptop as it is in the notebook catergory)

Secondly we need to know if it is Intel or AMD

This is all he asked for and you disregarded it with your best regards.

It is rare you get the same problem on a different spec because components are configured differently

Boot Device Not Found/no OS installed on hard drive

I have an HP Envy X2 (Originally Windows 8.1 x32). I installed Windows 10 preview, decided I wanted to roll back to Windows 8.1, and followed the following steps (admittedly written for Surface) with an x64 recovery partition on a USB plugged in:

1. Insert the USB recovery drive into the USB port on Surface.

2. Press and hold the volume-down button while you press and release the power button on your Surface.

3. When the Surface logo appears, release the volume-down button.

4. When prompted, select the language and keyboard layout you want.

5. Tap or click Troubleshoot, then tap or click Advanced Options, and then tap or click Command Prompt.

6. At the command prompt, type diskpart.exe and press Enter.

7. Type LIST DISK and press Enter.

8. Type SELECT DISK SYSTEM and press Enter.

9. Type CLEAN and press Enter.

10. Type EXIT and press Enter.

I now get the following error message:

Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk (3F0)

F2 System Diagnostics.

I've now found my x32 official Windows 8 recovery CD, and put it in an external USB CD drive which is attached to the computer.

I've tried changing the BIOS settings (F9 - System Configuration - Boot Options). CD-ROM boot is enabled, Secure Boot is disabled, Network Boot Protocol is set to IPv4+IPv6 (UEFI). The only other Network Boot Protocols are IPv4 or IPv6. I still get the same error message every time.

Please can anyone help? I'm starting to worry!

Take a look at the ports on the left side. Does the usb image have a black SS next to it? It means superspeed.

If that is the case, then the issue is that you need to install the usb 3.0 driver for the ports to operate. YOu will need to identify the device.

The controller could be Fresco Logic, NEC or Renesas.  The links are direct to the driver download.

Identify the device by opening the Device  Manager and right clilcking the device without driver installed. Look for a yellow exclamation point.

The following image shows an ASMedia controller with driver installed

Copy the PCI\VEN character string and post it here. I will be able to identify it for you so you can install the correct driver.

Hi,

Your machine has 2 ports on the left, they are USB 3.0 ports:

             dv7left.png

Your machine uses 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5-2430M processor. Please

1. Download the following Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver and reboot

   http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55095.exe

2. Also Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver and reboot

   http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55100.exe

after that check USB 3.0 ports then, try (a) first then check ....

(a) Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver

That doesnt help at all, cyberlink has a neat little feature that enables you to take snapshots from the dvd you are viewing.

vlc doesnt nor does window madia player and I need it for my work, I though perhaps there would be a fix or upgrade to get over this.

This laptop came with cyberlink but now it is useless, there are 2 newer versions to cyber link and  I seem to have the only one that cannot be fixed/patched.

HP installed this software to work on this laptop for a reasonable time but it has failed.

Even out of warranty the system would be expected to work for a reasonable amount of time - say 5 years ( and this is true for ALL electrical appliances, never buy the extended warranty you dont have to pay for that) - but I still have 3 weeks of warranty left it would appear that my best option would be to return the hp and opt for a brand with better after sales care.

It is not too much to ask for my laptop to work the same as when I bought it  is it?

My laptop messed up and now I have to re-install windows 8 which came with my laptop.  I tried to get it for free from the microsoft website because I have my product key but the retail version wont work for my computer because I need the OEM version.  The Windows support guy said I could get this for free from HP but whenver I contact them they want me to pay $50+ dollars which doesnt make sense because ive already purchased windows.  How do I get a copy of this

Since they changed the DVD protection I can't watch DVDs.  Most of the drivers on my laptop are generic since the last install...  Is there a place I can directly go to the downloads for them on the HP site?  When I click the go to drivers thing, it just keeps spinning.  Says it can take up to 3 minutes depending on connection...  But it never goes forward.  My model is the dv6000
I figured I would ask since you are a HP employee.

Re: Installed incorrect bios for HP ENVY m6-1125dx

I understand and can see how everyone is failing to understand your issue. I understand it perfectly as I thought you were quite descriptive in your original post.

I did the SAME EXACT thing as you described. This laptop I have isn't mine but the HD failed on it. It's out of warranty so I had the user buy a SSD drive for it. I installed it, popped my customized jump drive in, installed Windows 7, installed all the drivers, and then thought I only had to upgrade the BIOS. I ALWAYS upgrade the BIOS. It's just the normal thing I do. After the BIOS update - the laptop bricked. I knew something happened - but didn't realize it was the Win8 BIOS setup. This laptop had some damage so I figured there is more damage than i realized - until I read your post.

I'm at the same point you are at. I jsut figured the system board will have to be replaced as there aren't chips you can pop out and replace. in 30 years of doing this - this is the 2nd BIOS update that bricked a system. The last one was a Gateway desktop back in 2005. I was able to buy a replacement chip for $20 and all was resolved.

I see someone did post something helpful. I believe the answer you are looking for was in this link:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03518165

My only problem is that the original hard drive I determined was INOP and the new SSD drive doesn't have the utility partition on it so I can utilize the Backup BIOS version. I suppose now I need to find someone with the M6-1125DX and see if they are willing to clone their HD to a file that I can download so I can have an image to lay on a temp HD in order to recover the BIOS. I don't know what else to do either.

Step 3: Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination

When you upgrade the BIOS on your notebook, a copy of the previous BIOS version is stored in the HP TOOLS partition of your hard drive. Many HP notebook computers have an emergency BIOS recovery feature that allows you to recover and install the last known good version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional. This emergency recovery feature is separate from the BIOS and is designed to work in the event of a catastrophic BIOS failure.
You can use these steps even though you will not be able to see anything on the monitor.
To recover an earlier version of the BIOS on your notebook:
  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Plug the notebook into power using the power adapter.
  3. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time while the computer is off.
  4. While still pressing the Windows key and the Bkey, hold down the Power button on the notebook for one second, and then release the Powerbutton and the keys .
The Power LED light remains on, and the screen remains blank for about 40 seconds. You might hear beeping sounds. Eventually, an HP BIOS Update screen displays and the BIOS update begins automatically.

Thanks for the tech assist. Using the drivers on HP website for this laptop model did not provide drivers for these devices.
