HP laptop - laptop shows orange light (charging) when the adapter is connected and the laptop is in sleep mode but when the laptop wakes up, the light turns white regardless of battery not being 100% charged and even with the adapter connected, the battery percentage falls. Hence, the laptop does not charge when it's awake, only when it's asleep. The issue is clearly not the adapter.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat
NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

Re: Recovery Failure
I tried the clean install media prior to this install. and it failed. Prior to that I used the recovery usb I received from HP, needless to say that failed 1st. So this is what happened in order:
- Tried the recovery media usb from HP it seemed to install the OS restarted a number of times but failed on the software install part (#13 here https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205
- So I tried the clean install media you suggested but that too failed
- I downloaded the recovery media onto another USB drive and tried that and it also failed so I made this post.
All of the failures occur in the software install part. I ran HP diagnostics on the hardware as was suggested and it all checked out okay. I notice that in the readouts the 1st failure occurs at the McAffee install. Could that possibly be the cause? I saw in another thread where a user was having a similar problem and noted the McAfee error also.

OS install when replacing a hard drive
My older friend gave me his computer to fix and I found that it wouldn't boot and was ultimately failing the Hard Drive Short DST - so end of life for that drive. Physically replacing the drive won't be an issue, but how do we get Windows back onto the machine? I'm hoping that I don't have to tell him to buy it outright since this is a pretty decent HP machine, but I'm really not sure how this part can work if everything gets lost with the old drive.

How to remove my bios password.
Hello all, as the title suggests I am trying to remove the BIOS password on my fossil of a machine, the HP Mini 110. I haven't even used it in years, but upon booting it up and trying to enter what I thought would be it, it of course wasn't.
It dos spit out a code at me (CNU938B356), but I have NO idea what that is for. I'm not looking to actually regain anything from my old laptop, I was just wanting to test out the whole theory of "Linux makes old machines run faster", but of course, I am being stopped by this.
I tried to research this already, and I seen a post on here from way back in the day, someone having the same issue as me, and then giving that code that it spits out at you. Then a HP rep came on and gave THEM a code (I guess to enter into the pc as the password?), but the OP never responded, and the thread is not archived.
I even tried to enter the code that the Rep gave out, but to no avail.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated. If you need any further info, I would be more than happy to oblige.

screen freezes while reading MSN articles
While viewing MSN, reading articles, I frequently have the screen freeze and only partially fill in. I then get a narrow banner across the bottom that says "msn.com is not responding due to a long running script". And then there is a gray box that says "stop script". If I click on that box, then it will complete filling in the screen and I am then able to scroll through the articles. This situation may occur several times in an hour or then again not that often.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with those issues.
I have never had an instance where I was unable to clean install W10 using the media creation tool.
I usually download the ISO file and burn it to a dvd.
If you want to try that, I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft tool you need to transfer the ISO file to a DVD so that it is bootable.
In order to boot from a DVD, you have to enable legacy mode and disable secure boot in the BOPS.
