After an update, my laptop would no longer power on. On the sides of the laptop, the adapter indicator and power indicator lights are on. The power indicator light above the keyboard does not light up. After a while, the screen finally came on with a message that says "Programming PEI region" and a logo of 3 gears. The laptop does not change from this screen. This laptop is not used for anything besides Netflix and word documents for school work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

HP EliteBook 8460p Restore Disc
Hello all,
The hard drive went on an older HP EliteBook 8460p and so I'm trying to put a WIN7 system back on it. If there were discs that came with this computer they are long gone. The label indicates a product key for WIN 7 Pro, but not if that's 64 or 32bit. I'm not sure if that's important.
What I would like to know is how do I install a new system on this computer? Do I just need a WIN 7 Pro retail or OEM install disk and use the product key from the computer? Do I need to order a replacement disc from HP.I've checked the web site and there doesn't seem to be a downloadable restore image similar to what I see for newer HP systems.

Recovery media has to be ordered by telephone for HP business PC's for your notebook's model series.
In the USA/Canada you can see if a kit is still available by calling HP at: 1-800-334-5144
Otherwise, you can order a set online from this non-HP vendor at the link below...

I had to run system diagnostics and the Hard Drive Check failed. It went to a blue screen that told me "No Hard Drive installed. Please check the power and data cables are connected properly.
Boot device not found. Please install an operating ststem on hour hard disk.

About thermal....
i erased everything in swsetup folder and C:\
Hp support assistant download new thermal driver. Installed but didnt work.
I n device manager i erased manually.. all drivers about thermal.. Dont forget to select "erase files" too.
I downloaded again thermal driver reinstalled... Thermal driver was working but not the other.. if i remember well something like .. ""Partisipant"". (yellow triangle)
I uninstalled that driver and reinstalled from pointing to folder swsetup.
And finaly worked.
Hope it helps some how.
But it didnt work with drivers past in Hp support assistant. I needed to wait 2 months for newer driver to come.
