Where did you get the bootable DVD? From this either your DVD drive is bad or the disk in it is not secure boot complaint but a Windows 10 install disk should be. Can you still boot into Windows 8.1? You can start the process within Windows 8.1 and then during Windows 10 install tell it to do a clean install wiping away the prior Windows 8.1 if that is what you want to do.

Perfect! I've downloaded most of the drivers thanks for providing me with the Wireless one. Need one last driver, for the Ethernet Controller: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_3568103C&REV_05

If I decide to upgrade this laptop to Windows 10, will I require additional drivers?

Thank you!

You're very welcome.

You need this driver for the ethernet adapter...

This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

Not sure about W10 on that platform. It might work OK, it might not.

In any event, for whatever drivers W10 didn't install, you could check the hardware manufacturer's websites for W10 drivers, or try using the latest drivers available from the support page for your notebook.

Windows 10 Recovery Failed. No support from HP

Hello. My Pavilion dv7 came with windows 7 from the factory when I was prompted to upgrade to windows 10 I did. I have been running windows 10 for about a year and half now when I decided to Reset my pc and reinstall windows last week. Unfortunately after a couple hours of letting the laptop reset I received an error message: Your pc/device needs to be repaired   error code:0xc0000221. I'm assuming all I need to fix it is a system recovery disc. I called HP and told them whats going on and that I"m willing to pay for a recovery disc but they no longer support this product..... They told me to buy a new laptop lol.   What do I do? Run the laptop over with my car?

Hi:

You can still get recovery disks from this non-HP vendor, who I believe buys up the excess recovery disk inventory when HP decides to no longer carry them for the model series.

If you want to reinstall W10, you can clean install it by making your own installation media using the media creation tool at the link below.

When you go to install W10, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically reactivate once you are connected to the internet.

Hi:

There are no W7 32 bit graphics drivers from anywhere that will work on the switchable graphics your notebook has.

If you want the graphics to work, you will need to install a supported 64 bit operating system (W7 or W8).

There are no 32 bit drivers.  That's why they won't install.

Not to mention, you must only install the AMD graphics driver, which installs the drivers for both the Intel and AMD GPU's.

Never try to install the Intel graphics adapter.

If you install W7 x64, then try this AMD graphics driver if the one on the g6-2207tx support page doesn't work.

This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs).Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

I didn't try the dvd but I want to try. I would like to learn how I can change boot configuration to "boot from dvd writer".

What do you mean by "Can you still bot into Windows 8.1" ?

Thank you.

The notebook model number is 15-ay014dx.

The first time I did the reset, I pressed F11 when I turned on the laptop. Then I clicked on "Troubleshoot," then "Reset this PC," then "Remove Everything," and then "Fully Clean Drive," which is the option for when people want to recycle their laptop. I wanted to reformat the entire hard drive.
