Upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10

$

I recently bought a HP Pavilion Notebook with W 8.1 including HP provided application software (e.g. HP Support Assistent, Cyberlink, ..). Microsoft offers me a free of charge upgrade to W 10, to be delivered as Windows upgrade end of July.

The delivery package of the computer did not include installation files of the HP provided applications. I wonder if a reinstall of these applications have to be done after the upgrade from W 8.1 to W 10.  If so, how/where can I get the required installation files and will these HP provided applications be compatible with W 10?

Best regards,

Bert

Hello Elattila

Probably something fail in upgrade.

What you should do?

- Reinstall OS!

- Using F11 in boot or by Media Kit (OS DVD)

- If you don't have restore kit, you should contact your local HP Support and request a restore kit.

Before upgrade win8 to win8.1, check if your notebook it's compatible by using the Upgrade Assistant on HP support pages:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/Home

Before upgrade any OS you should update previously your notebook drivers.

Dear Customer,

Welcome and Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Forum.

If you upgrade windows 8.1 from 8.0 when you have HP ProtectTools Security Manager, you will experience issue in booting up the PC.

Please contact and HP support for windows recovery CD's, once you have that windows installed do the following the steps please.

Perform the following steps:

1. Uninstall HP ProtectTools Security Manager.

Hi again and thanks for your help so far.

Before I do (1) and buy  HP Recovery Media

I thought I would look at (2) and ((3)

In the case of (2), I do not have a Windows 7 install disc, so this option is not possible for me

In the case of (3, I pressed F11 and was sent to "Windows Boot Manager, which is no help as it needs a Windows Installation Disc which I don't have, so I will have a look at (1).

Do you think i will lose data from partitions that I had previously if I take this option?

Dave

One thing I should add, the text at the bottom of the Windows Boot Manager stated:-

'An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data1.'

Okay Hi!

Option 1) THIS WILL FACTORY RESET THE PC BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION THEREFOR ALL USER CREATED FILES, UPGRADES AND PROGRAMS WILL BE DELETED

Looks Like The MBR Went Corrupt And Yes You Can Fix I If You Have A Windows 7 Repair Disc Or HP Recovery Media Because You Need Be Able To Get Into Command Prompt

If You Have Another Win7 PC Then Make A Repair Disc Then Boot To It

Hi:

You need this driver for the 6007:

This package provides the HP 3D Driveguard software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection software) for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D Driveguard protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.

Hi:

For W8.1, use this bluetooth driver...

This package contains the Broadcom Bluetooth driver for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. Broadcom Bluetooth Driver is required to enable Broadcom Bluetooth devices.

Safe Mode Battery power lead not detected

I have tried to get a media recovery disk/USB in safe mode but it doesnt recognise the battery power lead as being plugged in. Is there anyway to get it to think the power lead is plugged in so I can create the media recovery.

I have damaged hard drive and cannot generate the recovery in normal mode and i didnt create the recovery media when I first got the lap top.

If the hard disk is damaged, you cannot create recovery media from it.

You will need to purchase recovery media from HP or an HP partner that is specifically for your notebook.

Ordering a recovery media from HP

On the web document, click on the country in which you reside for ordering information. It is highly recommended to request USB recovery media instead of a recovery disk set.The cost is currently usually around $40.00 USD

When the power adapter is connected, does the power led light up?

Many, many thanks!!    (Mahalo!)

Even after loading/reloading all the different control panels, the fingerprint software, either digital personna or simplepass, both say no readers available. Looks like mine failed completely. When doing a trouble shoot from within control panel, hardware, it suggests not being able to detect a device properly.  Must be the fingerprint. So When I get my 1tb drive, I will try doing a win 8 retsore from the system disks to be sure...

The context windows continue to be a pain. When the zone area  was taken away in the latest version I lost t

OR wait for win 10 support, and see what  else quits !!!

Re: Keyboard_Filter_01 unspecified device on my hp14-r017tx notebook

@paul,

I tried installing the files. It crashes and forces me to restart. Then I manually installed the hpSystemUtility, it works fine, BUT the keyboard_filter is still there in the unspecified device. I thought perhaps I tried installing sp56929.exe that banhien suggested after installing the hpSystemUtility, so I tried that and it still doesn't work. The cursed keyboard_filter unspecified device is still there.

The thing is. it doesn't have manufacturer, model number, no device status either. On the properties of the device, it only has general and hardware tabs.

I also cannot remove the device since it doesn't give me the option of removing the device on the device explorer.

Furthermore, there is no yellow star on the device manager, so the driver SHOULD be fine except it's just sitting there on the unspecified device.

Any other suggestion?

Thanks

A simple solution without having to restart the PC:

1- Go to device manager .

2- In "Biometric devices" Right click on "Validity Sensors"

3- Click on Disable

4- Click on Enable

 That's it!!!

Enjoy...

Hi:

I can't seem to access the HP business support pages right now.

Use the BT driver directly from Mediatek (Ralink).
