Re: memory test failed

Hi,

The most likely cause of this error code is that one of the memory modules in the notebook has failed.

One way of confirming if this is indeed the issue is as follows, but please see the 'Note' at the end of this post.

First, with reference to the Service Manual on the link below - remove and re-seat your memory module(s).

If the above makes no difference and you have more than one Memory Module installed, try the following - if you only have 1 Module installed, try it in the other available slot.

Again, with reference to the Manual on the link below, remove one of your memory modules and then see if the notebook will boot.  If it doesn't, try the same module, but in the other slot.  If is still doesn't boot, try the other memory module in both slots, to see if any combination will allow the notebook to start normally.

The procedure for removing these modules is detailed starting on Page 63 of yourMaintenance & Service Guide.

Note:

As your notebook is still under warranty, my best advice would be to contact HP and arrange to have it repaired - you can check your warranty status Here.

If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

Regards,

DP-K
