If you read carefully the initial posting, I'm not looking to overclock my machine but "underclock" it. Reaching 75°C in the winter with no particular software installed is a sign that the machine is unnecessarily stressed by the default factory settings. With a room temperature reaching 30°C and above in the summer, the CPU would reach 85°C, which is too close to the danger zone.
Using a conservative Windows config brought the temperature down to 30°C to 40°C in general, with peaks below 60°C, which is what I hoped the Support Community would help with....
