Here is the run down. I have a DV6-3237nr purchased a little over 2 years ago. the computer has held up to pretty good under heavy use over that time. I've always keep everything backed up, and performed factory restore 3 times over the 2 years to keep the computer clean and such. I've upgraded the RAM 4GB to 8GB, with no problems. Just recently the hard drive started acting up and I got the dreded blue screen a few times. I succesfully ran a factory restore, but the blue screen came back. I chalked it up to a hard drive failure, and upgraded from a 500GB HDD to a 1TB HDD. I installed the 1TB HDD I booted the computer from the CD/DVD Rom, and attempted to Restore the Factory OS with the restore discs I created when I purchased the computer. Here is where my problem starts. Every starts off fine, then it will stop and I get an error message that says "recovery manager could not restore your computer using the factory image error code 0xe0ef0003"
My question is how can I restore the factory image to the new hard drive. I know I can order the discs from HP, and it is not that expensive, but if it will not restore from my created discs I don't think it will restore from the discs that HP can send.
The reason I want the facotry restored OS is for the drivers. I am currently running a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, but the compture has lost a lot of its functionality. Quite a few of the driver to make the computer work well will not install properly. Examples... HP simplepass fingerprint reader will not work, my wireless adaptor's connectivity is terrible, IDT audio drivers will not install, and USB functionality is not very good.
Any help would be great. Thank you in advance.
