Winows 8.1 Startup fail after windows updates

I have a week old laptop computer bought from PC World. Its the HP 15 - n278sa to be exact. It came with windows 8.1 installed. I really like the laptop and have no trouble with it until i perform windows updates. Its happened to me twice now, my computer asks me to complete updates and restart or complete updates and shutdown, anyway i click either of these options depending on what i need to do at the time and upon attempting to boot the computer after this. I have attached a picture of the message i get when i do try to restart. I wouldnt mind but im getting fed up of having to re-install everything after performing the "refresh PC" option. As a computer forensics and security student at university i understand the importance of these updates but until i have a solution to the problem i have disabled windows updates. Somebody please help me!
