Thanks for your response...

The only display adapter that shows up in my Device Manager is the Intel HD 4000. The version number for that driver is 9.18.10.3071. I do not have any other display adapter recorded and no yellow exclamation points indicating a deivce without an installed driver. According to the HP driver website, this is the most current driver available for my notebook while it is running Windows 8. The driver you linked to is only compatible with Windows 8.1, so my computer will not install this driver until it has upgraded to Windows 8.1. But I cannot upgrade to 8.1 without a video driver that is compatible with both Windows 8 and 8.1. The driver I have installed will not work with 8.1, so when I try to upgrade, the installation fails. It is a big circle...

We need a driver for this lapotp model that is compatible with both Windows 8 and 8.1 (like the version 15 posted on Intel's website) so that we can upgrade to the updated OS and have drivers that will continue working.
