Yes, I Tried to no avail, may have made it worse.
1) Downloaded the drivers zip file
2) Removed the existing biometric device drivers
3) rebooted
4) Unziped the device Drivers
5) selected drivers
6) selected I386
7) Selected UFMA (took me to http://webimages.authentec.com/store/uFMA/ufma-64bit.html)
8) selected TrueSuite® Starter
9) Pop-up asked if I wanted to save or run mswu64.exe; selected run
10) Began installation of AuthenTec True Suite
11) Selected Install; Thank-you screen came up
12) Restarted
13) Went to control panel, device manager
14) Right clicked on computer name
15) Selected scan for legacy hardware
16) Add hardware (no biometrics)
17) show all devices; next
18) Not able to find Biometric Devices.
19) Tried to run TrueSuite® software; cannot find device.
20) In device manager, scanned for hardware changes
21) Found under other devices; unknown device
22) Took it to the location of the downloaded TrueSuite® driver software: unsuccessful; stated could not find software
23) Went back to HP and downloaded Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver
24) Restarted
No Luck
The fingerprint scanner will not even light up now and I cannot find it in the device manager
