Hi Akshay,
I think this is a wise idea to have a dual boot with ubuntu. It solves lott of problems.
I have also dual boot (trial to be sincere , first dual ubuntu-win8 , then win8-win7).
However , this is a procedure.
First option is to instll ubuntu inside win , but by my expereance this is not a good idea because it slows significatly ubuntu distro.
Here I dont want even the mention posibility to run Ubuntu in a virtual machine.
Second option is to download Ubuntu distro from
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
-make Your bootable CD , or use unetbootin http://sourceforge.net/projects/unetbootin/files/latest/download to make bootable usb stick
-download and run partition manager - this is for example one , but You can easily shoose another by Your choise - http://www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-express/download.html
With particion manager create space that You need for Ubuntu , and create it as fat32
Set Your bios to boot from usb (if You made a usb stick) or a CD (if You made Live CD with ubuntu) and boot it from that device.
Bevare-during the ubuntu instalation , choose installing ubuntu alongside windows , and on a partition that You reserved for him (You must remember the size , please don't mess!)
After complete installing You will have dual boot ubuntu and win.
If You have some more questions , please don't hesitate.
I wish You good luck and all the best!!!
