If you have not yet solved this problem,
Consider the following:
- If you can get into SimplePass, back up your Webcards
- completely uninstall your HP SimplePass,
- Uninstall the Validity Sensor driver (NOT delete)
- disconnect everything from the notebook (drives, usb deivces, bluetooth, whatever)
- perform a Hard Reset,
- boot the system and log in manually - fingerprint sensor should reinstall itself ...
- Install the latest version 6.x SimplePass software
- reboot the system
- enroll fingerprints and tell it you want to use the software to log into Windows
- reboot the system
- Import your .tsd webcard backup to restore your webcards
