HP seems to be misidentifying my laptop product info: We were unable to verify your product....

Hi,

I have an HP DV9000 series laptop ( I think its actually a dv9000Z)

The product label underneath the computer reads:

Product: Hp Pavillion DV9000

s/n: CNF6410RM7

p/n: EW680AV

When I try to obtain updated drivers (especially need the BIOS update) it seems my laptop is being incorrectly identified which prevents access to download them.

When using HP's automated system there is a "product detection" apsect that always results in a message: We were unable to verify your product.... (which prevents anything further from occuring).

When I try to obtain updated drivers (especially need the BIOS update) it seems my laptop is being incorrectly identified which prevents access to download them.

Curiously... if I type in the Product DV9000 (as shown on the actual label) the HP identification screen shows my product number to be RG564AV .... NOT EW680AV as shown on the label.

If I opt to type in the product number instead of the product, the computernidentity returned is DV9000z along with the correct product number of EW680AV. Unfortunately....the auto detection process still has to occur to get to the driver site, and once again I get the "unable to verify..." response.

Any ideas???  THANKS in advance!!!!
