I can tell you that installing drivers is somewhat like building a house.

If you do not install these drivers in this order, it is like building a house from the top down, instead of from the foundation up, and crazy things can happen.

I would reinstall W7 from scratch...

You should be able to use the W7 x64 drivers from the Probook 4540s except the card reader and the nVidia graphics adapter.

The first driver to install is the Intel chipset installation utility and reboot.

Then the graphics and reboot.  With your model, you need to install the Intel HD graphics driver first, reboot and then install the nVidia graphics driver from the link below.

Then the audio and reboot.

Use a flash drive to install the above 4 drivers if you don't have internet connectivity.

Then you can install the other drivers as you want.

Use this driver for the card reader.
