Re: HDMI connection in Windows 8 not working

With the issue of not being able to use the HDMI connection further. You can try to reinstall the original driver from the recovery manager. I have included the document 'Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8)'. Please follow the steps for reinstalling the HDMI driver.

At this point, HP does  not have drivers for Windows 8 and 8.1. I have included the document 'What if I Don't See My Operating System?'. This will inform you of the different options available to you, such as downloading the drivers from the manufacturer of the part.
