When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and/or post it here for our review.
Most consumer computers haven't come with factory recovery discs or Windows installation discs since the early 2000s. These computers all have a means to create your own personal set of recovery discs. If you didn't create these discs when you first setup your computer, you may have purchase a set to return you computer to a factory like state.
Alternatively, you may be able to download and create a Windows installation disc to repair and/or reinstall Windows. Please note that installation of Windows from a generic Windows disc will result in the loss of all HP customization and value added software.
