Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you should NOT have tried to do that Upgrade.
Your PC model comes with only 32GB of storage -- which is not expandable -- and most of that is already taken up by the Windows OS, its support files, and any files you have created.
The Upgrade needs 20GB of free space for it to succeed -- and you have, most likely, 5GB or less of free space.
What you will need to do is the following:L
1) Order HP Recovery Media to restore your PC to its original condition -- more on this below
2) Once your PC is restored and working, go out and purchase a 32GB SD card -- you will need this in order to hold the working files Win10 Upgrade needs
3) Using this link, create the Win10 install media needed to upgrade your PC: Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help
4) Insert the SD card
5) Insert the Win10 Media and if it doesn't autostart, open the folder containing it and run setup.exe
With the Win 10 source files on the media and the working space available on the SD card, you should then be able to do the Win10 Upgrade.
------------- Info on HP Recover Media ----------------------
What will work is restoring your machine to its original factory condition using HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.
You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Once there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entty and click on Order Media for details.
Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:
If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!
Good Luck
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.
