Envy x 2 Black Screen due to overheating(?)

Last week, after shutting down my Envy x 2 (15t coo cto), I packed it up to transport for a presentation.  I arrived several hours later.  The computer was cool to touch when I packed it and shut it down; however, when I removed it from the bag, the computer was very hot.  I plugged the computer in.  It made the usual sounds as if it was booting up; however, the screen remained dark.
