Yes, you'll have to convert it to MBR. The easiest way to do it is probably to simply wipe the drive clean, using the "diskpart clean" function in Command Prompt during Win7 setup, or by using a disk utility such as PartedMagic or GParted.
Please note that once you adjust partitions, you will lose data and there's no turning back - the system may not function properly or even boot. Proceed at your own risk!
If you have a spare HDD you could use, I'd highly recommend swapping it in and saving the factory-installed disk, just so you can have a factory-installed disk handy.
