I've had the same problem. When you say uninstall the drivers/software do you mean going into the "add or remove programs" section and clicking on "HP Simplepass" and clicking uninstall? and then going to the "HP recovery manager" and reininstalling the "HP SimplePass Identitiy Protection Software" ?
