I have just recently purchased a new HP Envy M6 1178sa.
I will be using this for DJ use i.e. playing music and music video and therefore I want to strip it of all the pre-installed "bloatware".
As the pre-installed Windows 8 comes bloated with trials for this, that and the other, Norton and various other rubbish I figure the most effective method is to buy a Microsoft Windows 8 disc and re-install a clean operating system without all the rubbish.
So I have purchased a Windows 8 disc, go to install it and it loads up the first screen with "install now" and "repair" and when I choose to install it goes to "starting installation" and then it pops up saying that a required media driver is missing.
After some brief research Microsoft say the disc is broken, illegal, missread etc.. and HP suggest dissabling "secure boot" in BIOS.
So tried dissabling "secure boot" and no luck.
Suggestions please?
I don't want to use the recovery partition as this will give me all the bloatware, although I think I have stripped it back enough to be usable so may not need to do a fresh re-install I want to know I can use my Windows disc should I ever need to.
