I think this problem mainly has to do with google chrome and the way it uses extensions. In the latest chrome update google made it so that the only way that you can install third part apps is by doing it manually. Here is the link to the update info https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769?p=crx_warning&rd=1. This change may have made the simplepass extension stop working. So I think the only way this will work is if hp releases a way that we can download just the google chrome extension.
