Password
I have a new hp notebook with windows 10. After setting it up powed down, now it wants password to open windows. I have tried evey possible way to type in the password. It rejects every one. I didn't know about the password recovery disc, I do not have one.Tried to reset to factory setting, it wants my password! How do I get into this thing, before it goes into a brick wall!!!!!!! laptop reboot
My laptop has been rebooting every time I wake it up from Sleep mode (default setting for Closing The Lid is Sleep mode). The warning message has a big sad face smily and then says "your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some information for you". Is there a known solution to this problem?

HP SimplePass error
I updated my HP SimplePass and then got an error message, ClientCore.exe System error "The program can't start because storeng.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem". I heard uninstalling the HP SimplePass and then reinstalling can fix the problem. I want to keep the HP SimplePass. Help, my laptop restarts itself.

I have a HP pavilion dv6000 ( P/N: KC3192A#ABC)
It was frequently restarting itself, so i cleared up some files believing that my laptop was running out of memory. When that didn't fix the problem, I gave my laptop fan a clean , thinking it was due to overheating. It was okay for a few days before frequently restarting itself again. So I reformatted my laptop using the System recovery. It worked for a couple of weeks, but it's restarting on its own again, but not as often as before. This is the latest window that popped up after it restarted itself. Is my laptop just getting old and no longer working properly or am I missing some software?

can you safely increase recovery partition size
My question is simply I have a Windows 8.1 on a HP laptop 15-F033wm and my question is simply can I safely change (increase it ) the partition size of the HP factory created recovery partition ? Can this be done without casuing any problems to rhe factory restore or resetting the laptop to its factor defaults ?

No. That is factory set changing it will delete any files sitting there. What do you not have enough space? What are you trying to do exactly here?

Hi:
Normally you should be able to access the BIOS by tapping the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen,
Then you should get a menu of options. Select the F10 BIOS setup option, and hit the enter key.

I am getting the same COPY FAIL from D:\Preload\BASE5.SWM to C:\RM\Image\BASE5.SWM. I am swapping out a dead 640GB 7200 hard drive from my original 2011 HP Envy 14t-1200 for a 500GB SSD Samsung SSD 850 EVO.
The above post says to install a Windows ISO file to a USB or DVD. If I do that, what is the next step? And has anyone had success going this route?

Well Paul, your input was excellent throughout, my next experience with HP, not so much. I tried to order the HP2000 disks and it said I have reached the limit of physical media to order. I did order the disks a few years back to do this same thing, so I guess they only allow us to do that once. :-( I'll have to drive to my storage and pray that I missed the box with my older disks in it, but I don't think that's the case.
Then I tried to order the Pavillion media and as soon as I got to the order form I was stopped by a non responsive serial number window... that is, the cursor appears in said window, but it would show no response to my keystrokes. The rest of the page seems fine with the rest of the input boxes being active, but without the serial number box being active I'm blocked!
Geez, not my day man; through no fault of yours of course, you've been very helpful! I'll try again tomorrow incase the non-responsive serial input box is a temporary glitch. As for the HP2000, I have an all new question for you! I've always preferred to wipe and reinstall the O.S. from external disk, but assuming I can't locate my old ones now, how effective is running the "System Recovery" program? My end goal is to remove all the numbing clogging data from years of use and return to the literal clean HD with just the factory data left intact. Can I do this with the already present System Recovery program?

Sound card problem
I'm having trouble with my sound card on my laptop. My audio cut out on me and all that I'm hearing is a blinking sound. For a week, I'm trying to fix this problem. However, I'm failing to fix the problem. I reset my laptop, updated my sound card and laptop. I did what I can to fix the problem.

for your information, my laptop did work well for last 2 years use win 7 (i install that cause i just have win 7 licence nor win 8),
and i have try to install win 8.1 in trial version on my notebook but the problem still there, and i have try from link that you reffer like update windows, scan from malware.
any other suggestion for my problem?
