HP has provided a utility on their PCs to make Recovery Media for free -- problem is, if you have difficulties with it, it only allows one pass and then will not let you try again.
Which is one of the reasons I use third-party utilities.

Hi,
My laptop screen is partially broken - 1/4th of the screen is either very dark or glitchy. I would like to let my laptop be repaired, its still under waranty, but I cant seem to get in touch with HP on how to repair my screen.
Thanks in advance
You're very welcome.
It is not the same link.
This site gets the ISO files from the Microsoft Techbench site.
What version of W7 do you need?
Home Premium 64 bit English?
I'll generate a link for you to download the file which will be good for 24 hours after I post it.
Yeah me too, BUT going to another HIDClass discussion there is a way to HIDE this update that wont' install.. Supposedly ita a HP Button driver that should have already been installed a few months back. It did on my laptops thru HP Support Assist not thru Windows. Go checkthat
Here's the link to Hide the Windpws Update once you check Suppiort Assist>>
Thanks Bro

Windows 10 Home version/build 1809, HP Pavilion Notebook, 64-bit operating system.
Like everyone else on this board I did see error message 0x800703e3 on Windows update. My error message was different. "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. HP Inc, - HIDClass - 10/30/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2.1.8.1 Error 0x800703e3".
I am seeing old update dated 10/30/2018. How do you remove this update message on Windows update? I am very aware of the fake support warning the HP has sent to me in my secured mail.
Takfuji1's answer worked for me; however, I suggest a change to his step 4. Instead of copying the three files to a temporary folder, do the following:
- Select the three files
- Right-click, choose "Extract", and extract the files to your temporary folder.
- Follow Takfuji1's remaining steps.
Yes I got it too. See my above post on it.
BTW here is the link I referenced to HIDE those updates AFTER you check HP Support Assist
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026726/windows-hide-windows-updates-or-driver-updates
Thanks it worked for me, though I don't have a wifi button on my laptop, but do have an airplane mode button. But if I couldn't resolve this issue, my updater would not be able to go further!
Thanks Mucho.

Cool. I've been having a lot of issues since Xmas between this and Intel Driver updates that wont update too. HP no help just wants you to pay for Smart Friends.
Anyway... Most fo the HP updates should NOT be downloaded from Windows and Intel too. The HP Support Assist is always the best way if you can use it.
Have a good one.
I agree;
Also there is a new intel video driver update that I won't download because it takes away my ability to adjust the screen brightness. So I'm usually one that says "if it ain't broke, don't update".
I'm definitely open to see if I can revive this thing. Even if it's just to get another year out of it.
I had the exact same problem. This fixed it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/aft1cn/got_precison_touchpad_working_again_1803_x360_and/
It wasn't the windows update, it was the new drivers that came with it.
This also tells you how to reinstall the precision trackpad drivers if you use them, if not you can just stop after resintalling the old drivers but I definetely recommend the precision drivers. The only thing is that last section where it stops windows from auto updating drivers is outdated for I think the new 1809 version of windows. If you right click the start button, hit system, system info on the right, Advanced System Settings on the left, go to the hardware tab, then hit device installation settings, then hit no. That SHOULD stop all automatic driver updates.
My PC got unplugged and option to choose my keyboard layout ..i push US and options are troubleshoot or turn off PC...push troubleshoot options are recovery or advanced..recory won't work and push advanced options are repair, image recovery, unistall updates ,UEFI settings, c:,or system restore and nothing works I'm stuck in a loop,,, help!!
The brightness issue was a Windows issue that was fixed with update in early to mid December. Dont remeber exactly which update but if log onto Windows and ask that Virtual assistant you will get a lot of Community Boards discussing it.
Many of us had that and the update fixed it for most of us. good luck
Strange that I cannot see the message from Cheryl here that I received via email. Signing into this HP site has locked up my Exployer twice resulting in having to Task Manager end everything. Here now.
Thank you again Cheryl for your help. So working on my working desktop computer I reformated 2 seperate usb data devices before downloading the Microsoft utility tool. I'd try to run it on my working computer but it would immediately pop a screen up with change, repair, remove. Repair was in blue so chose that then clicked finish. Nothing appeared that that I could save to a usb data device, run and then move over to the non working computer. Seemed best to use Microsoft rather then other free utility tools. Perhaps I'm not following the directions properly.
